Surprisingly boring
I've heard good reviews prior to watching this show and maybe I had my expectations too high. However, this drama disappointed me. Sadly, instead of being scary and captivating, it was boring and sometimes unintentionally funny. The special effects didn't impress me either. The character development does not work well. As far as horrors are concerned, I found "Kingdom" much better, as well as the movie "Train to Busan". I do not recommend this show to anyone. The rewatch value for me is close to zero. The ending implies there's going to be season 2. I'm not looking forward to it.Was this review helpful to you?
Watch it for Park Hyungsik :-)
I loved this drama. I started watching it, because Park Hyungsik is in it, after having watched and loved the actor in High Society. He is adorable, and it is worth watching SWDBS just for him. Actually, when I rewatched the drama, I skipped everything but the romance plot. This is the kind of drama that, despite being cheesy, is also extremely charming, and that's because the main leads "sell" the romance so well. I'm an ahjumma, but while watching it, I felt like a young girl again, loved and falling in love. If you are looking for a realistic drama - skip it. But if you want to feel romantic - this drama is just right (unless yu don'r fall for Park Hyungsik, but is that even possible?)Was this review helpful to you?
I am confused, I liked it and disliked at the same time
This is going to be a short review. This drama got me confused. It started really well, but lost it momentum half way through. It'll probably be a feast to Park Bo Gum's fans. I am not one, but he was pleasant enough to watch in this drama. My overall rating is as high as 8, because I like those down to earth dramas about people trying to live in the Korean society. I do realize the society is very judgmental, but this fact never ceases to annoy me.Finally, can someone please explain to me why dating is considered a SCANDAL in Korea? What is so scandalous in the fact that an actor in his twenties is dating a perfectly normal girl his age? What's the controversy?

Good and bad at the same time
This is a drama that I find really difficult to rate, because it's at the same time very bad, and very good. The bad: the main couple and their acting. Boring, boring, boring! And bad acting! These two actors seemed bored to death with their own story and their own acting. They were totally unconvincing as a couple. There was no chemistry between them, either real or acted.
The good: the second couple, and the second lead's relationship with his Mom. With the excellent work that Park Hyung-Sik does the couple was exciting, and managed well to capture the viewers' interest. I have actually rewatched this drama, skipping all related to the main couple, just focusing on the second leads :-)
This was a drama that made me develop a serious case of second lead syndrome, as well as made me a fan of Park Hyun-Sik. I recommend it to all fans of this actor (just skip the main lead plot).

Very refreshing
I found this drama really refreshing. There are no cliche chaebols fighting for power over a company (which is the most boring plot ever!), no evil future mothers-in-law, no supernatural powers. Just pure joy of watching (more or less) ordinary, down-to-earth people "fighting for their way". The acting is good, the plot is interesting but not too complicated to follow from episode 1, the dialogues keep your attention, there are only a few prolonged scenes of someone crying ;-) I lamost didn't use the fast forward button, which I usually do while watching dramas. I highly recommend this drama to viewers who are bored with chaebol stories, robot love stories, supernatural powers stories, and other totally unrealistic plot devices. Was this review helpful to you?
