Yes Zhan Zhao is Justice Bao's protector and henchman.
The plot has to do with Taizong emperor's ascent; allegedly by murdering his brother Taizu. Enemy kingdom Western Xia is using "evidence" of this to destabilize the empire. Xiangyang Wang is the mastermind. Zhan Zhao is tasked to uncover all the people involved in this conspiracy. Seems quite a straightforward plot to me.

I will never stop begging the administration of this site to please remove the option that you can rate a drama that Is not even finished!!!!!!! Some people rate low even before is release like others rate high before it releases. Some people are rating even when is two episodes out and some are just haters or people who don't care how the plot developed and rate high because they are fanatics (Yes fanatics not fans there's a level of difference in the delusion.) of the actors!! Some people actually take it seriously of how the dramas are rated or reviewed!!! Some we have experience and are smarted than take the rating serious and because of the reasons I explain above!!!! Where can we gather signatures to request the removal of that option! And yes I have asked about it in the forum meant for requests and also about making the number of blocking members unlimited.

Yangyang's action scenes never disappoint. I'm here for the fighting scenes.
Also, I didn't expect Zhanzhao and Linglong to have this much chemistry. Even when this drama is not a romantic one, I can feel their chemistry.

Waiting for today episodes... And I was thinking about how glad I am that for once we have a FL who fight with a sword and her martial arts only.
Usually wuxia fls use daggers, or bows (which are cool okay, but swordsss), or a whip, or some sort of magic power, so it's pretty refreshining seeing Ling Long properly fight with a sword and be good at it. I like her.

Even though episode six wasn't subbed as well it was still pretty good and I like how our lead was able to figure out what happened to his friend's family and hopefully we'll get justice. I also think that the rat was not really ham it was someone else masquerading since apparently face masks are common use in this series? What exactly is going on? I guess we will have to see in today's episodes. Love the fight scene. I think they are absolutely the best.

Just saw Zhao Qing bought theater packages to support Yang Yang and this drama over on Weibo. Omg brings back TIA nostalgia vibes. hope she returns for S2 as Zi Ling.

The one things that really stand out so far is the cinematography and set design, which bring back the older wuxia and movie style.

It is refreshing not to see over-saturated and bright colors that are so common in wuxia dramas these days.

this is so good. i'm sobbing in epiosde the way they protected that baby and he left to protect them, my heart. pls tell me he will survive and meet them again, like thats their baby now. i know this isn't romance at all but i love the relationship between the two leads like they already have chemistry, and i love how she's written. i generally dislike how women are portayed in these kind of genre but she's so good like i love this.

Having no prior knowledge of any history involved in this drama, I watched with no expectations. I enjoyed it. 8/10

They said it is bad ending: Zhuge Yue died, Chu Qiao died. They also said it is an open ending, the ending is a dream of Yan Xun. Some even said, it is a bittersweet: Yan Xun and Zhuge Yue in their old time, without Chu Qiao.

And I get what you mean about the female lead. While her performance was good, having a slightly older actress might have added more maturity and emotional weight to the relationship, especially alongside Lin Yunrui. He really carried Zhuge Yue with such presence—calm, powerful, and deeply expressive without overdoing it. His portrayal made the character feel grounded and compelling, especially in those quiet, emotional moments.
Overall, the ending works because it’s subtle. It doesn’t spell everything out, but it gives enough for viewers who pay attention—and that’s what makes it satisfying rather than confusing.

Finally done! To be honest the last episode was quite emotional. The drama had messy writing, plenty of times there was no proper build up, thing were happening somewhat out of the blue. However, it was fun to watch. For me it was definitely a happy ending with the last few minutes showing what ifs scenario. The score 6.1 is way too low. Also, it was a good opportunity for me to rewatch some episodes from the first season "Princess agents".

The ending is not confusing. All these folks claim to be long-time Cdrama watchers, yet can't figure out what the actual ending is and what is "what could have been." All you need is a little attention.
The last scene of Zhuge Yue and Yan Xun meeting at the lake is a beautiful tribute to the friendship between them because that is what they had before Chu Qiao entered the picture.
I enjoyed it. I only wish the FL was an older actress so there would be more connection between the main leads. LYR is perfect here as Zhuge Yue.
