yeah. some dramas manage to still be good despite clichés because they have a good story or at least good characters. for instance the taiwanese drama autumn's concerto is loaded with clichés but it still manages to pull it off
someone also said that maybe he has known she can talk since the interview or whatever but is pretending not to know, so that he can still talk to her on the kidnapper's phone..

Most Female leads have terrible moms in kdramas. Ugh. We need better moms for them next year
yeah, I was surprised that the mom in the king in love was actually decent. most of them are pretty bad and some aren't terrible but are just gold diggers. but step moms tend to be worse
