Some people here do have presumptions about Luke but in the drama as well you can see him he is older, wiser, more established than flora, comes from a rich family and have all the resources; he is very hard working indeed but he let's his pride, ego in the way instead of communicating with flora and we saw that he can communicate well, he understood her friend and let her down slowly was clear with boundaries yet with flora he becomes his dad

Both have flaws but Luke have more.

bias is not just from the novel but drama's tend to do these things that female leads had to be the one causing problem or being in trouble yet the male lead is god; even though male leads are clearly the red flag. I get it it they need to cater to the female fans but still, this time they did a whole 180 with Luke's character from the novel, he is better but flora's character is still the name, their relationship is different yet flora's insecurity remains the same.

a new character is going to be introduced who is going be a intern but she is not a normal person she is the daughter of Lime's client and is extraordinarily talented and Luke is impresses with her work, he praises her n all cause she is that good while flora starts to fell insecure as they were not in a real relationship in novel and Luke never praised her like that, then she was transferred for work to northwest[ she takes the initiative as she wanted the promotion] while living there she met Yuan Zhu [her roomate] who was severely depressed as he had lost his mother, he starts to cry and flora gives him a hug, Luke saw this from his car[ he was there to surprise her loll] and leaves assuming things instead of talking with her. Later on they did communicate. During her time in northwest another rumor starts about Luke and that girl that they are dating and they were pictured having dinner, flora sees this but ignores as she trusted him [ still gets a little hurt as every one said that they were perfect even though flora was his real girlfriend and in the novel nobody knew this, he didn't introduced flora to his friends as well]. Later on during the promotion time everyone was certain that flora was going to be promoted but the criteria changed and even that girl could be selected for promotion luke knew this but didn't tell Flora beforehand, she got to knew this at a company dinner where everyone one was present. At the end flora did'nt get promoted and Yuanzhu had already died during this time everything comes breaking down and she breaks up with him and when she was breaking up with him she accuses luke of not being fair and she was never gonna be enough for him. Still he didn't console her.

Looks like we are not going see the kitty arc but what's more interesting is that how will they play out the breakup arc; in comparison to novel, Luke is less toxic and his personality seem to be significantly improving from last 3 eps { have not watched ep 16 yet}, he doesn't have much problem with yuanzu yet, is more supportive of flora for now has introduced her to his friends as well, so in the drama till now Flora does not have a strong reason to doubt luke[ still a red flag though]. In the novel he was less supportive and more toxic , never introduced her to his friends[ as they were just FWB for most of the time, they only come in a official relationship very late]. So it's going to be interesting to see how they are going to create misunderstanding [ I MEAN THEY DO HAVE A MYSTERY CARD] .

Makes sense they probably made someone ambitious, ruthless and someone with less flaws, as in the novel his character was not that great and the FL was made to meant to be pretty damsel in distress , she was resilient but always at the mercy of others so they will probably give more substance to her character. I mean he literally kidnapped FL and r*ped her but the whole novel is unhinged as well without changes its impossible to air the show.

WOWWWW! I was just reading comments and my biggest fear came true they turned luke into this yearner guy, while making flora the one with problems. It's always the same script, in book both characters has problems and both miscommunicate but in the show the guy has to be perfect while fl would always have some issues.

yeah me too, but whether they focus on 1.2 or 3,4 the drama will definitely be toned down compare to the book because of censorship n all so anyway we are not going to get the book level angst. Only if, the show is well directed along with the script,then there's hope .

1 and 2 are quite mild .. real angst and yearning is in vol 3 and 4. I think they completely break up in volume 3 and it was gut wrenching as it was build due to all the miscommunication. So if they focus on 1 and 2 it won't be that intense,

Till episode ten gu jin jao has more chemistry with both ye xian and xuan qing than yuan yun. Both ml and fl have admirable qualities but together they feel bland. Yuan yun's character right now doesn't have much hold on me as they haven't shown his back story yet.

Well obviously 😂 they weren't gonna keep his multiple relationships and smoking habit that's too much for cdrama but I am afraid if they change too much it won't be ZJZ anymore it will be just another whitewashed cdrama ml and what makes them special is the angst in novel if thats gone it will loose its charm.
