They made the best of a mediocre script & deserve another chance to showcase their acting potential.
Valiant effort by OnlyOneOf in their first drama but the script was not favourable and there's a large range in acting skill displayed. The series was very short which did not leave them with a lot of room to really explore their characters, with some members having very little screen time at all. Would love to see them in a longer series with a better script that would allow them to really showcase their acting skills like we've briefly seen in their Underground Idol music video series. Was this review helpful to you?
Enjoyable but inconsistent characterisation.
Overall I loved this series. The characters were mostly well thought out and believable however there were a few inconsistencies that slightly lowered my enjoyment of the series, most notable in the character of the 'monster'. Earlier episodes showed he was thoughtful and supportive of other's needs and very understanding. Later episodes he appeared to forget all of this and became suspicious and judgemental for a time. It was not in line with his character and was not enjoyable to watch. It very much came across as a plot driven requirement with no foundation rather than a believable character driven challenge. Also I can't be the only one that was disappointed that a certain scene from the pilot trailer never materialised in the show. There's also a very unhealthy setup for the pet turtle featured in the series which is very irresponsible of the production team. I would hate to see anyone copy this set up for their own pets. The enclosure is far too small with nowhere near enough water for proper submersion. There is no basking spot with a heat lamp or a source of UVB light which will likely result in a softening and deforming of the shell. There was a moment where I actually thought this was going to be addressed and was a little impressed with the detail but this turned out to be wishful thinking on my part. No turtle should be kept in this environment long term. Please do not copy this setup.

Rushed ending and lots of unanswered questions.
The ending was rushed and left a lot of unanswered questions which lowered my enjoyment of the series. The overall premise was good and I was enjoying the journey but it feels like we're missing the final act of a play. Character motivations were not clear in the majority of cases and I was hoping these loose ends would be tied up by the end, which they were not.Was this review helpful to you?
Engaging story centred around realistically flawed and endearing characters. No BL tropes here.
This show packed a lot in to 8 episodes but managed not to feel rushed, however I wish this show had been longer so we could have spent more time with the characters through their ups and downs. The passage of time was sometimes confusing for me but this did not ruin my enjoyment of the story. The characters were realistically flawed but endearing, and the acting was fantastic all around. You will not find any of the typical BL tropes in the series so if that is something you require then give this one a miss, likewise if you are not interested in stories about same sex relationships. However, if you enjoy realistic well written stories performed by great actors then this is definitely worth a watch. Was this review helpful to you?
