Personally, I really, really like how he found it she was a woman so quick. Makes things easier for the future, no messing around where he thinks he's falling in love with a man or anything and is super awkward around her or anything like that trope. And ngl the romance hits hard, thought it would take a while before we saw any hints of romance, but that lantern scene was really nice

Yeh in the novel of the double she dies and is reborn (I think), also the recent coroner's diary, in the novel she dies and is reborn, as I read the novel. They changed both and many others.

Not sure about the trailer but in ep 1, she is blind on a cliff and her brother sends his bodyguard to kill her. She is stabbed and falls off a cliff but survives thanks to the help of her master, and her blindness is healed. He helps her get a fake identity and she joins the army. And like above pointe out, banned probs not the right word, but you will see many cdramas based on novels of rebirth are re-written such as the double. This is because rebirth cdramas are frowned upon by the state body that regulated tv in china. So they are often re-written to not include rebirth

Thats true, don't think it's a full ban, just frowned upon by the state governing body so not many people do it to not get on their bad side, totally forgot about blossom though, good point
This is just my opinion, I think a lot of people (mostly novel readers including myself) went it into this thinking it would be a revolutionary, all time cdrama, it's not... yet. I don't like to judge too nearly, thats why I said not yet, there's lot to come. I think a lot of the budget also went into the fight scenes/war we know is coming. But are there plot holes? Yes. But for me at least, these few episodes were enjoyable. I like the chemistry the leads have, I find the FL cute, and enjoy the moments of humor. I'm the type of person that doesn't mind turning my brain off to watch a show, if thats not you, and the plot holes are too much for you thats ok. But for me, I found the first few episodes enjoyable. Was it what I expected based on the novel and trailers? Yes and no. Could be better, but also could be a lot worse. I'm looking forward to what comes next. Personally I like the fast pace, no filler. I found it entertaining and look forward to the relationship between ML and FL growing, and how the FL's brother will react. Plus also found Chu Zhao intriguing. Just my opinion though.
Just FYI for people asking why transmigration/reborn cdramas are banned. This was like 10+ years ago, but transmigration/rebirth dramas were banned because of two smash hits in the early 2010's that involved rebirth, leading to a women apparently committing suicide in the hopes of being reborn in china, thus they banned it out of fear of people potentially committing suicide hoping to be reborn as shown/glorified in cdramas. As for time travel it was banned because the state governing body over radio, film and television in china stated it distorted/disrespected Chinese history, and historical figures, and warned against making such films. Thus, to not get on the bad side of the governing body, these cdramas were not made as much anymore. This is all based on what happened in the early 2010's, not sure if there have been any recent changes or anything, but these were the original reasons why.
thats where I read the novel for this drama, really good novel.
