I’ve actually noticed a lot of well received dramas in the last few years (and particularly by international audiences) have been adapted from novels!! If you think about it, before in the past, for modern dramas, most of the scripts were written from scratch (no novel) and it was very often the usual troupes e.g CEO and employee plot. Cold ML, warm FL. First love in highschool or college. Or it was transmigration dramas.
It’s very interesting. And a lot of highly anticipated upcoming dramas are also adapted from novels.
I blinked and they broke up and already reconciled LMAO. I wish they cut out some of the middle stuff if anything. They built up so much anticipation towards the break up but the last quarter of the drama was so rushed.
I would have been more okay with it if Flora lost the promotion fairly, however, I saw ppl mentioned that the results were rigged in the novel - Luke ended up investigating it and fired the person later on
I feel like this drama has many mature themes and you come across many realistic issues. Navigating a new and bigger city, establishing yourself as a fresh graduate, falling in love, unstable relationships, friendships and companionship, deaths, mental health. However, the promotion rigging I feel is less realistic (though is possible) and is more like a plot device. I feel like it takes away from the drama for me bc every other aspect I found it very relevant to everyday life. And it shifts part of the reason for the break up to workplace reasons instead of the issue being the couple themselves.
Is it just or me or was Luke in ep18 just felt like he backtracked 5 eps. Like his behaviour seems so out of the blue.
also novel readers- I was under the impression there was meant to be a mini break up when Flora is accused of corruption at the company but then they reconcile when Luke gets hospitalised for kidney stones?? Or is this not happening anymore.
I see a lot of ppl arguing about whether Luke is a red or green flag or just a realistic normal person bc everyone is flawed and ppl are just too used to perfect c drama men.
My thought is that most of these dramas are idol dramas, yes it’s fun to think about it, however, I wouldn’t be taking this to reality or using it to set my expectations.
looking at the upcoming clips, I think the breakup line changed abit. From Luke saying “We only slept for 6 yrs, it can be you, it can be anyone” in the novel to “Dated for 6 yrs” instead in the drama. I think this has to do with the drama making things less explicit compared to the novel. But it definitely tones things down a lot from Luke’s side with this change.
Alright pack it up, when’s the express package cominggg?!! At least I assume we will be able to binge watch the break up, separation, get back together arcs all at once hopefully!

ML has split personality disorder, from we have seen from clips it appears that ever since the failure of the experiment, his alter ego has taken over. Which is the more cold and indifferent ML we see now with the FL. The ML that the FL dated is actually trapped in his mind and I believe has not came out since the incident. The redemption arc will be once the FL discovers this and "heals him" and his two personalities merge.

I don’t have the link anymore! I saw it in the comment section of a video posted on KuaiShou (Chinese version of TikTok) I saw quite a few ppl saying that and agreeing so I think it’s true.
When I first started seeing clips it reminded me of My Amazing Boyfriend with the supernatural element. And when I watched the first few eps it reminded me of Embrace in the Dark Night (and let’s be honest the FL does so well in these action packed romance short dramas). I’m living for her micro facial expressions and the random comedic moments! Same thing happened in Embrace in the Dark Night where no one expected it to do so well and absolutely blew up in China as well. Here we ignore the logic and live for the chemistry bc clearly we are all eating this up HHAAHAH
But surprisingly now that the ML is awakening his emotions, he kinda reminds me of Sima Jiao from When Destiny Brings the Demon!!
I’m loving the sci fi element because it means we can focus on the romance + adventure , instead of creating unnecessary misunderstandings.
