Slightly better Story, but still Mediocre Quality

Start off, this movie was slightly better than MNSS: Flowers Bloom in February. Only slightly though.
Again I question why these movies were made if the production and quality were so terrible. Garbage.

This story is set Pre-Mystic Nine Drama setting, where Huo Sanniang had not yet been the head of the Huo family. The ending is open ended, but leads to show that there is a common enemy at this period. He appeared in Tiger Bones Plum Blossom too. I suspect all 4 movies are actually Pre-Mystic Nine setting.

The acting was mediocre... However, they didn't CGI the background, so I appreciated that aspect. The plot was unsatisfactory because half was answered and half was left in the open. I hated all the characters in the movie. Huo Sanniang was ok, but not any better.
I think it would be a cool to make a Pre-Mystic Nine Drama to see how the group worked together before and fight against the "Mystery Man". I'll leave it at that.

WARNING SCENE - there's a topic of abuse in the movie (you can see in the tag) so be careful.

My advice, watch in this order:
1. Four Belongs to Abelmoschus (Warning! some scenes are hard to swallow, well for me at least)
2. Tiger Bones Plum Blossom
3. Ganges Kiling the Trees
4. Flowers Bloom in February (Don't even waste your time watching)

Watch At Your Own Demise

My god where do I begin... this movie can be summed uo wuth one word. And you guessed it! BAD! Utter hot garbage.

The story waa so bad and plain. Meaningless deaths, it was overall unnecessary. Actually the whole movie is unnecessary. Too much was spent on trying to make Er Ye look cool that it looks cheesy and cringey.

Production was below quality. I was expecting movies to look better/ be more detailed than dramas, but this just looks cheap. Although the Buddha Tomb looked great though, pretty much the only nice thing about the drama. So much green screen/CGI was used for pointless shots.

Don't get me started on the acting. Bland as ever. Lay was better in the Mystic Nine drama than here. Everyone else is just...sigh*

Anyways, I thought this movie was a waste of time. After watching Chen Pi's & Jiu Ye's movies being pretty good and ok, Er Ye's is definitely worst out of the bunch.

So, if you've read this far, heed my warning lol Don't bother watching unless you have time to kill and you are beyond bored. Or you're Lay's super fan then I guess.
Watch at your own demise.

Initially watched this for Lt. Zhang, but overall, it was an Okay movie

I wanted to watch the movie because Lt. Zhang was there, and he was a gem!
That aside, the overall plot/story was a typical detective troupe. Mysterious deaths that needs to be solved. Not too bad. I had early suspicions, but because I second guessed myself, I was wrong in figuring out the perp.

The acting wise, Jiu Ye was pretty much an iceberg for emotions lol Zhang Min En as Lt. Zhang was on point with acting wise. He showed emotion and clear facial expression.

Dubbing is a but iffy in the movie and the CG is rather choppy compared to Chen Pi's story (granted CP's story was mainly outside and didn't need any mechanism environment) So BE WARNED with the CG/Green screen effect.

Left with a cliff hanger/open ending with many questions still lingering, but, overall, it was decent to watch.
