Mrs. Yu was pretty cool from the very begining, she was ready to accept her even back then but Yake's own inferiority complex made her loose the sight of what mattered hence whenever Mrs. Yu was ready to be gracious Yake messed things up.

It is not fair to compare their experiences, I'd say Tingyun should've turned more jaded than him since it was her own family basically killed her, even the person she kept closest took her to the gallows. Zhao Ling made that choice to rise above, Tingyun made all of her choices to stay alive, so they're not the same.
Also, your last conclusion is very similar to what I think. Even now Zhao Ling no longer sees her as his equal, he is comfortable enough to dump his problems to her yet he still makes the desicions all by himself. They are no longer partners that trust one and other, just two people with the same goal. If the times allowed I don't think the current Tingyun would be willing to marry Zhao Ling as readily.

Yes. He became just like other men in power. I guess his initial self was that way because he had no power but once he has it, he is just like them. It is realistic but still doesn't make it more digestible.

You are spot on and in reality people like Zhao Ling become easily power drunk and forget their initial aspirations. To be frank the current him is getting the benefit of the doubt just because he is the lead character.
p.s. He was also ready to take that shortcut 5 years ago which cost him dearly.

His mindset is no longer the same so that is where the problem lies, 5 years apart and he become an actual stranger. Which is realistic but not something I appeciriate when it happens to led characters.

Ok. You do you. I'm willing to point my finger and criticize characters when they decline but you can keep protecting them no matter what they become or what they do.

I wouldn't mind it as much if he at least stayed true to Ting Yun but at this point I don't think he is the same man who deserved to be waited for 5 years. If this drama continues to be realistic from that angle than I really don't think Ting Yun will have a happy marriage with such a man.

I don't think it is a simple misunderstanding plot, the current Zhao Ling is open to accept another woman even if it is only in the name. That says a lot about his current character and I really don't like what he is becoming.

Ikr, he was still pinning after her just an episode ago yet now he is clueless about what he has done wrong. It almost feels like he is not the same person at all. I'm not sure he is power drunk or he was always like that but his poorness kept him from being this ridicilous. Which is what we see usually with side characters when they start as devoted partners only to become something really vile. So at this point his only shield is the fact that he is the male lead because otherwise he'd be cancelled so fast.

Zhao Ling is becoming less and less likeable by each episode while Ting Yun is becoming better.

That Yu f-ker needs to be placed on a stake and burn alive. My blood pressure never drops with this drama, so much so that I'm getting headache at this point. I need to see them avenge themselves and I need to see it now.

p.s. I love how they used natural wide angle scenes, cinematography is top notch.

This is definitely a good production, but... I don't know why I'm struggling to complete it. There is something missing and half way through it is really getting harder for me to keep enjoying this. Dropping this at ep 29.

p.s. I knew he would turn evil, cause, that actor never gets good guy roles XD

What the hell is going on at this point is beyond me, this drama is like 10 mini dramas crammed into one giant mess. I keep watching it but my brain is pretty much cooked.
