as much as i believe people are free to rate a drama however they want, i do think reviews should come from people who actually watched a reasonable amount of it. i was looking through the reviews and noticed that quite a few of them(both positive and negative)were written after only the first few episodes. i honestly don't understand how anyone can confidently review an entire series based on such a small portion of it. a lot can change over the course of a drama: characters develop, plotlines evolve and sometimes the strongest or weakest parts come much later. first impressions are one thing, but treating them as a complete review doesn't really reflect the drama as a whole and can end up being misleading for people looking for genuine opinions

maybe to you they're good dramas, but not everyone looks for the same things in a show. dramas are entertainment, and how much people enjoy them is subjective. what deserves a high rating for one person might not for another.
I’m not against anyone writing reviews after actually watching the drama — everyone is entitled to their opinion.…
exactly, and theres smth that genuinely bothers me abt how people post reviews (good or bad) without having watched the entire show. they're absolutely entitled to their opinion and experience but calling it a review when they've only seen a fraction of it is misleading to anyone who comes across it trying to decide whether to watch
The rating is a little low here on mdl, but this is a pure niche show. Palace intrigue with a serious wuxia edge…
i don't really understand the obsession with defending the ratings. if the audience genuinely enjoyed it, they'll rate it highly. if they thought the writing, pacing or characterization had issues, they'll rate it lower. that's literally the purpose of ratings.
every time a drama gets a lower score than fans expect, they jump to "it's too niche" or "yall just don't understand it." but sometimes the simplest explanation is that viewers saw flaws that affected their enjoyment.
i like the drama myself but i don't think it's above criticism. ppl are allowed to appreciate what the show is trying to do while also feeling that certain aspects weren't executed as well as they could've been.
knowing WHY someone is the way they are doesnt mean we have to be okay with what they do, thats rlly the whole point of showing us prince li's past. its an explanation not an excuse. we feel for him bc we see what shaped him but then we also see what he does with that, how he treats people, the choices he makes. and that part is on him. nobody gets a free pass js bc they had a hard time.
