In my opinion, if it doesn’t air because of this reason, then we actually let those antis win. They are spreading…
I don't think perseverance and righteousness work with c-ent. There are no second chances given there and I think airing now will harm the show and maybe get it into bigger controversies. If tencent sees the situation now and goes to clean the skeletons in its bl show actors' closet before airing the show, it would be better.
an anti? damn this anti rly wants to see us all in pain on august 20th
There are multiple things that may be connected but seem disconnected. The rumor that this show will air came along with the rumor that the penguin is sabotaging another bl to make way for it. It's a very stupid theory because what kind of dummy would put so much effort into destroying a show that has already finished airing a long time ago. It's clear that doing sth like that just alienates potential viewers. No one would do this. It must be an anti-bl movement that is trying to destroy all these shows then act like they are destroying each other.
Let's hope this show doesn't air this month. There are a lot of extremely, really it's truly so stupid but people still believe them and spread them, rumors that *the scandal* was a technique to get rid of woh so another bl can air. So if any of the upcoming shows come out now they will be crucified. It's very morbidly funny how people actually find ways to lie to themselves and create fake narratives that easily hide the bad intentions of the true evils behind these situations. The masses are just so easy to fool, unfortunately.
Okay, on a more positive note, I'm reading the new novel and I can't help but imagine Chen Feiyu as the main! It sounds so cliche but I just feel like he really fits him.
*sighs* well I wasn’t really expecting them to air it anytime soon anyway. I'm just mad about that Qixi festival…
Ool is aired late because XZ was crucified by controversies during the months following the show's filming. It was supposed to come out last November. With historical shows it's more normal but based on china's new restrictions and so on, if the show doesn't air soon, it might never be able to if china bans bl adaptations. It's mostly a negative possibility not a real threat but it's still something that can happen.
what show? actually, I never think of today as airing date...the timing is just not fitting. And to wait for the…
Demigods and semidemons. It will run until September 4th. I didn't think it would air today either but based on the schedule and the fact that it also looks like an expensive xianxia type whatever, I think it’s unlikely they'll air two shows like that close to each other.
Tencent released another show. So I think it’s goodbye to immortality. They will either wait until the hype for this is completely gone and everything becomes outdated or this is actually done for. I'm not sure if I'm relieved or angry.
I've changed my mind. I don't want this show to be a huge hit. I want it to become suddenly super low-key without any huge blowout for the actors. Just a quiet and peaceful run and a silent end.
idk, I never do this. I opened twitter to see if they say anything and was hit in the face by this terrifying scandal from another actor. Now I need to hide under a blanket for a week so the anxiety goes away. Someone @ me if hyx starts!
I think unless it’s really that bad or major changes, there won’t be any backlash. Sure, some people won’t…
I personally think despite the persistence on clean and virtuous protagonists in cdramas, a lot of shows have more nuanced characters than the average western show? I'm thinking about the implications here. For example, when I watched cql, I felt the implication of a morally grey character, the aftermath of trauma, as well as the hypocrisy of war despite the fact that the show downplays those elements. Same goes for a lot of xianxia shows that usually show the heavenly court as corrupt and scheming as opposed to the alleged evil demon tribes who are usually just trying to survive with a few bad apples. So I think most shows get the point across with some well-balanced symbolism and such. And of course there's woh now that essentially has two villains as protagonists!

You will definitely enjoy this genre then. There are a lot of similar stories and if you are not an exclusive bl reader, then you might also like The Glass maiden. It also has both fantasy elements and the cultivation sect system. There's a lot to love here as a fantasy reader. I found Cnovels to be a breath of fresh air at a point when I was getting really tired of the repetitive themes in western fantasy novels.

Well since you are so well-informed, then I'm sure you already know how all the elements in this novel, including the tropes and elements you mentioned are common to the genre of this novel and have nothing in common with the magical elements that are used in HP, most of which are inspired by other works themselves. If my reaction seems extreme, it's because similar accusation come from new western fans who constantly down grade asian cultures with great prejudice and contempt so whenever these sorts of implications come around, it's best to reject them immediately. As a fellow asian, I'm sure you understand what I mean.
I'm not accusing the writer of plagiarism or anything. I love the novel and I like it even better than mdzs. But…
Maybe if you are unfamiliar with east asian writing culture, don't throw the word plagiarism around and instead go learn about their genres and fantasy fiction, first? This comment comes across as very rude, which I'm sure was not your intention but england doesn't have a copyright over "fantasy". the rest of the world have their own fantasy genre staples based on their own mythology, folklore and culture. This book and every other book of the xianxia genre is one such work based on chinese mythology, daoism, taoism and so on. If you are interested, you can go google about this more and learn all about it.
