For those who need a little bit of hope (even if it means being clowns once again), I just read that the second…
Apparently shows do that...add scenes I mean.

Title Immortality Spoiler
It has a love triangle for one volume of the three volumes and it's very fundamental to the whole story. It's…
The transmigration will be scraped! That is illegal in china. They will probably treat one life as a dream or premonition or something which is sad. That's one of the best parts of the book. That's why I think you'll miss out if you don't read the book. It's just impossible for them to adapt the whole thing so you'll miss a lot of cool and dark themes. But if you are someone with specific triggers or trauma, the themes might be too much for you. Either do good research about the book or ask someone to give you some warning. The translation has very serious trigger tagging too. Just do not read this if any of its elements are specially triggering for you or if you disapprove of them. I do recommend this book because I think it's very well-written but I never push people to read it because it's not for everyone, let's be honest.
Yes. Mo Ran and Chu Wanning are disciple and master. Mo Ran comes under a 24yo Chu Wanning's tutelage when he is 15. The show starts when Mo ran is 16 and involved with a random supporting character. He's not relevant to the romance though. He is in love with his senior martial brother who is 19yo. That's the third person in the love triangle.
The actual romance between Chu Wanning and Mo Ran happens when Mo Ran is 23 and Chu Wanning is 32...but there's a bit of a complication with the ages. I don't want to spoil you. Message me if you want super extended spoilers!
Basically a lot of people who haven't read the book accuse it of having childabuse/grooming/p*do... um they assume wrong. The story doesn't actually have any of those.
Both characters are adults when the romance parts happen and basically Chu Wanning is not around for a while and Mo Ran makes his transition from teenhood to adulthood without Chu Wanning's direct influence on him so no grooming and nothing between an adult/underage person.
The fact that they are master and disciple is also brought up in-universe as a taboo. So the story is aware that this is a forbidden romance and totally acknowledges that. I hope these helped.

It has a love triangle for one volume of the three volumes and it's very fundamental to the whole story. It's…
If they follow the plot then it's absolutely impossible to make the other leg of the triangle happen! It will make the logic of the entire story fall apart! And in the book all three are men, here the sleeper part of the triangle was turned into a woman so as to help avoid censorship. Mainly because the story starts relying a lot on the other pair but that becomes less and less prominent as the story goes on. We don't know for sure but apparently the author had it in the deal that the main couple's pairing should not change at all for the adaptation. It's all speculation until the show comes out though.
The angst in not like WoH! That show was so happy and fluffy compared to this! This book is just sobbing from beginning to end. There's a lot of misunderstanding (very plot relevant) and one of the characters is misunderstood by the other and ultimately gets really mistreated by the other character. So all of that is very heavy and it might be hard to get through. The whole point of the plot is about people suffering for unjust reasons. I didn't find this story frustrating though. It's just a very delightful story to read. It has a lot of humor, adventure, tragedy, and romance. But yeah, the main character is an idiot at the beginning and just so blind to the goodness of the other and that could get frustrating? But in the book it was also funny to see just how dumb the main character could be.
The untamed was extremely cheap! It's one of the cheapest shows I have ever watched only placing above really poor shows that use like plastic pink swords! lol and the budget wasn't managed very well. For comparison, Woh had a small budget but they put that into getting good costumes and designing very good martial fights and that was smart because that was what their show really needed. TU didn't have that. I would say in its genre, the untamed had the same amount of budget that the romance of tiger and rose had for its own genre. They are cheap shows that just lucked out and became famous! Immortality is the most expensive Bl cdrama out there. It doesn't get better than this for bl adaptations. This is a very niche taste, a very risky endeavor so companies run the risk of losing money when making bls. It's only after The untamed that profiting from this part of the market really became an option. So this show is the first time a big company took a big risk by putting a lot of money into this. I would say this show would be something like the AoL of BL genre, money-wise. It's still cheaper than BG dramas, I think but if any bl show is going to look expensive then this is it!
The CGI would be used in similar cases as TU but also more? There is an underwater town in this...and a ghost realm and a lot of stuff like that. So it'll need the kind of CGI that high fantasy shows require. Much more than The untamed and Word of honor.
I'll answer the rest in the next comment!

I really hope you're right about the yin-yang rumors that cancel each other out though! I wasn't expecting the show to air this month so I don't care if that August 20th is fake, as long as the show is not getting butchered again!

It's a Bl adaptation though. The rules are changing all the time, if they don't air these soon, they might ban BL adaptations like they banned transmigration because a lot of shows had it in their plot. Then we won't get any of them. There's already too many bl adaptations in the making. If they take up too much traffic in the media, it will work against them.
I agree that 2-3 years to work on a CGI-heavy 50-episode show is logical but this show can't afford to make its merry way to completion like an ordinary show. It needs to hurry up! (this brings back that editor's complaint about working 70 hrs up too. Like if they really did over-work everyone, it shows they know the clock is ticking and time is working against them)

I agree. For me, the plot comes first, then everything else. I can never watch any show for an actor if I don't enjoy the plot.
I love the book's story, if it's ruined then I don't see a point in praising a mutilated corpse that has just been stuck together with glue and spit.

That's the fear. If they end up censoring all the subtlety that we live for..........😭😭😭
Very little. It wasn't worth it, if you ask me. It didn't change anything. That show just didn't have a kiss. Otherwise it was pretty obvious in both versions.
But some bts that was released afterwards had scenes that were cut or something.

I guess all those leaks of the ghost wedding and the carrying and so on are all gone...if the changes make the show unrecognizable as the book's adaptation then what is the point? We already had to come to terms with major plot lines getting scrapped and now this?
Kris Wu better rot in prison for this! lol

They were foolish! They should have aired it with no promotion. The show has got too much hype already. It's sort of promoting itself at this point...money-hoarding companies , man...they play themselves

I do hate the idol culture. It's definitely a result of turning actors into the product itself. Then fans think they have a right over that actor's personhood, body, and privacy. I just don't know how a governmental movement can fix it.
As far as I know,( and I don't know much because I never care about actors outside of their acting, )the actors for this show are not super powerful or influential so I don't think there will be any major issues with them hopefully.
The best thing to come out of this situation is that creepy rapist getting his comeuppance.
We heard this show had its airing license early this year too, but it could be fake. If they had it and didn't air it then I'll at least be smug when it blows in their face...again.

I actually feel bad for all the shows that will be affected. I'm so upset because I have seen it happen where I live. They basically don't make shows here anymore. Just some watered down nationalist show once or twice a year. I really enjoy cdramas. I'll be sad to see a similar crusade destroy them all.
I hope this will air sooner and be done with it, too. I don't get why tencent is hoarding shows. just air the stuff you make so you won't get million dollar losses later!

The thing is, I don't think it will pass more scrutiny.
I don't know, each country has their own antiques. It's just such a shame. This is definitely burning the innocent along the guilty. Someone else has done something wrong and gotten away with it for so long because the whole system benefited from its ignorance towards that. Now sh!t has hit the fan and they are overcompensating.
I live somewhere not unlike mainland china so I am familiar with these sorts of behaviors and I'm really irritated by it all. Pathetic attempts to hide broken structures.
Whatever...perhaps it's time to stop supporting the mutilated content that is allowed to be produced under such conditions. Who's this benefiting? If I was one of the creators, I would just be so withered.

Did you make it or are you still in need of spiritual support? lol
It was okay. Very upsetting. I was relieved when Xiao Feng died because the book actually makes life the worst option! It's very short, not as detailed as the show at all.

I'm new here, I haven't read the novel or anything but after watching WOH (and it becoming my favourite series…
It has a love triangle for one volume of the three volumes and it's very fundamental to the whole story. It's very important. So even though it's not there the whole time, it's still very present throughout the story.
It has major CGI work. especially if they go according to the book. It's high budget and the same group who worked on Ancient Love Poetry have worked on this.
This story is probably a form of low-level Xianxia. Think Love and Redemption. It has a lot of magical elements but the gods don't really appear in the show. The realms exist but the main characters are human. It's heavier in its magic than both WOH and TU but less than AoL. I'm not done with Fuyao yet but it's sort of like the beginning of that show but maybe a notch higher?
The themes are pretty heavy in the book, god knows what will make it in the show. It's a redemption arc story but it's a bit unconventional in that regard. I also think it will be considered a dog-blood story? Not totally sure.
It has transmigration, wuxia elements, romances that last lifetimes, vengeance, corruption, redemption and it asks some fundamental questions about what it means to be good or bad and what we owe ourselves vs. what we owe others.
The book has a lot of serious triggers. It's not for fainthearted, puritans, or people who can't handle Chinese cultures without bringing their western pov into it and going all colonialist on it! lol. But if you can handle those stuff, the book is a delight to read.
My favorite character is Chu Wanning and I think he's about 75% of the fandom's favorite so go figure! I hope this helped.
