best show i've ever watched in my life

im now sobbing: not because the ending was particularly sad but because this is an absolutely beautiful masterpiece and i'm heartbroken it's over. the storytelling is the most magnificent i've ever seen and believe me, I've read hundreds of books. the utter depth and credibility given to the characters by the phenomenal prowess of the actors has me amazed. they couldn't have chosen a better cast - the characters really live and breathe out of the screen. this will definitely be a show im going to rewatch and rewatch and even read the book.

I hate to admit it, but the original reason I started this was for the infamous romance between the main leads that had me intrigued. but I never could have anticipated binge-watching this 50-episode show all in a week, not just because of the romance, but because I fell in love with the characters and story.

the acting is incredible and paired with the sheer depth that the author gave the many characters, it's truly beautiful to witness their stories. from wen ning, wen qing, xue yang, jiang cheng, yanli, meng yao, lan xichen, lan sizhuan/a-yuan (gosh that last episode when he remembers wei ying had me bawling, i love yuan and the familial love between him and wei ying and lan zhan!!!). all the characters had me utterly intrigued, with their complex moral dilemmas and the duplicitous traitors even more interesting to observe.

every relationship dynamic was so beautifully crafted and the sheer vast amount of characters had me rooting for all of them, but especially wei ying.

but of course, the relationship between wei ying and lan zhan had me swooning - no wonder the best romances come from stories which do not have "romance" as the main focus of genre. because their love was so organic and pure and built from friendship that I couldn't help but root for them. despite lan zhan having few lines, his ethereal presence and the way in which he says Wei Ying's name or the way in which he uses his eyes convey more than enough emotion. truly the actors are so skilled.

and the music!! the wangxian theme tune and all the scenes that go along with it, the stares full of longing, the sheer love that's blatantly clear through the screen - you'd have to be a blind and stubborn fool not to see it. because the best love stories are those where the characters show their love, not state it.

all in all, mzds will now become my entire personality and I strive to perhaps even read the book and the the author's other works and adaptations.

if there was one drama I would recommend anyone, it would be this. please, if you're reading this because you're unsure whether to watch the untamed, just watch it. although the prospect of 50 episodes may seem daunting at first, I assure you, I was utterly dejected when I was nearing the end. it didn't even feel like enough.

sultry, compelling, subtle

This drama is about giving in to your deep guilty pleasures, for once not caring about the rigid standards of relationships in society in order to lose yourself in this work of art.

The alluring soundtrack, the deep emotions conveyed by just a single stare, the subtle-but-clearly-there tension. "Nevertheless" is quality. It cares not about the standard and seeks to break the mould and honestly? It's refreshing. I do not care what is perceived as "right" or "wrong". This is about immersing yourself in a drama that doesn't care about the consequences.

The sexual tension is on peak and I'm here for it.

such a sweet, achingly innocent romance that will make you smile until your cheeks hurt

Honestly, I absolutely adore this drama. The dynamic between the genius scientist and our lovely heroine, Situ Mo, who are forced to live together due to unforeseen circumstances was tooooooo cute to watch. Gu wei yi's numerous failed attempts to gain Momo's love and his need to seek advice from his physics teacher had me laughing on end. I especially enjoyed the little drama that would occur in Gu wei yi's physics lab - all (well, most) the characters are so heartwarming and good. This lighthearted yet still addictive cdrama is something I didn't know I needed, especially after all the heavier stuff I've been watching.

"Put your head on my shoulder" is an absolute must for lovers of romance and fluff.

pure serotonin

You know that feeling when you feel both empty and sated after watching your favourite drama? That's me right now, after this masterpiece. I cannot recommend it enough. "A Business Proposal" has everything you'd ever need and more and honestly a story hasn't made me smile and laugh this much in a while now. For that I am forever grateful to this show: the beautifully developed characters, achingly cute romance, and let's not forget Samantha and Rachel everyone. It had me wheezing and cackling at ungodly hours of the day because the comedy is on peak. All the actors chosen are perfect and safe to say I'm in love with all 4 main leads. My only regret is that I wish we got a steamy office scene like the one on the cover :/

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, is that if you haven't watched this drama, you need to, and if you did but didn't like it, please, purchase yourself a life.

this is peak bl

genuinely one of the - if not the most - peak bl i have ever watched. from the gripping soundtrack to the lovely cinematography, everything about this drama was a masterpiece. i especially loved the romance between peem and khemjira - it was a master slowburn full of deep longing stares and repressed feelings. don't even get me started on peem and his eyes and how unreasonably fine that man is. he had me swooning every time he was on screen. if you want yearning and pining then this show is for you - because the way those 2 yearned for each other needs to be studied.

also, the actual plot had me hooked - i loved the flashbacks to their previous lives and how it all connected to the present. it was so refreshingly original and just beautifully crafted . jin and da were especially cute. anyways i'm going to miss this show it's become a part of my routine. i've genuinely entered a state of depression because i already miss this show - 12 episodes is not enough!!!

the show I recommend to everyone

"The King's Affection" has a special place in my heart. Not only are the costumes and set very visually appealing and satisfying to watch, but what intrigued me the most was the unique dynamic between the prince and the tutor. I adored Rowoon in "Extra-ordinary You" and his character in this drama is even better - the slightly eccentric tutor who is star-struck over the prince and follows him wherever he goes like an obsessed puppy, thinking himself insane for loving a man but despite this doing nothing to stop himself. lol. Park Eun-bin is also outstanding in her portrayal of the cold calculating prince Lee Hwi and it was enthralling to watch.

20 episodes may seem long but honestly for me, I was itching to watch the next episode every Monday and Tuesday, and it is in fact one of the few dramas I have actually completed from start to end. The premise enchanted me ever since I'd heard about it a few months prior to its release and I was not disappointed when I could finally get my hands on it. For any of you hesitating to watch this, I say, be bold, and just watch it. If you have taste, you won't regret it.

humorous & romantic

Honestly such a heart-warmingly cute drama with just the right balance of raw emotion, comedy, achingly sweet romance and gorgeous actors. Binged it in 3 days and I don't regret it. I am such a simp for Qianqian and Han Shuo's romance; it was so sweet my mouth hurts. The costumes were stunning and even though I teared up at times, Qianqian and Zi Rui's antics never failed to lighten the mood.

All in all, I highly recommend this cdrama if you're in need of a good historical romance because you won't be disappointed.

a fire kdrama from choi hyun wook

this is genuinely choi hyun wook's best role yet (along side suho from whc). the plot was so addictive and the plot twists! I didn't really know what to expect from this drama but it exceeded my expectations. like damn that man can act.

it's a brilliant psychological thriller, and a creepy but intriguing performance from him.

so f****** peak

as a lover of romantasy books, this bl felt like a dream. everything about the forbidden romance, the palace set felt like a webtoon come to life. for book lovers out there, this is like twisted games but make it gay.

I was looking forward to this drama months before it was released, then I kinda of forgot about it and only just watched it now as it came on netflix. boy should I have watched ts sooner. the main relationship was SO cute I had to replay all their interactions it had me swooning.

I had seen some negative reviews about this drama being underwhelming so going in I was cautious. and yes, this is not without it's faults. the acting at the start from the side characters was quite bad and I usually don't say this. the few action fighting sequences we get with Charan acting as a guard and fighting off attackers were pretty underwhelming and felt scripted and not real. you couldn't see the strength in his strikes. maybe that's because I just watched bloodhounds and before that rewatched weak hero but idk. also although I love the main couple so much I couldn't help but think their kisses were a bit funny to watch..is that just me? idk. same with some of their spicier scenes like some bits were cute others just felt like -especially khanin- he was trying too hard to be sexy that it didn't feel authentic idk. it did at some bits too but other times both of them were cringe.

also I think the plot in general with the courts and the assassins was very weak and poorly written. the plot was so one dimensional and it felt very straightforward and uncomplex. honestly it was just too good to be true.

khanin's biological dad was just so nice that it honestly pissed me off because he had no personality other than being nice. it just felt so unrealistic that he was so kind and considerate to khanin and that he would accept him giving up his title, not competing in the competition etc.. like come on man, give us some backlash, some plot!! your sons actions quite literally affect whether you have a right to rule and your chilling??!? where is the sense of urgency?? we get a bit more substance from the grandfather's character, but still, I feel like the story could have been told better (i.e by me, I have some ideas).

we should have gotten more angst in charan and khanin's relationship due to it being forbidden (either due to them both being male or because of the class difference between a guard and a prince or both would have been interesting) and them navigating that and fighting backlash from the grandfather, the courts and the press. I feel like that would have made the plot of this drama so much more intriguing. instead of whatever the hell the plot was. the writer needs to hit me up.

and the ending in what happens to khanin as a character was honestly so underwhelming and disappointing. the way he and his father had a whole conversation and were like yeah we should have a democracy 😀👍like come on this storytelling is actually pathetic what are we 10??? like wdym your happy to give up your power that easily like for no reason. no explanation. like I said, this has been written very weakly with not enough backstory.

despite the fact that these multiple factors made me cringe quite a lot in this drama, I still was hooked and binged the entire thing in 3 days more or less. because despite all its shortcomings the romance at its heart was what kept me going and honestly now that it's over I'm distraught. all I want to do right now is rewatch from the beginning. and I rarely feel that with dramas. the episodes just kept flying by and all of a sudden I realised I was on 13 and a sudden sorrow washed over me that this was not enough!!

charan and khanin are actually my roman empire. I'm so obsessed with Charan and his stoic, strict nature, bound by duty, who slowly unravels because of his love for khanin. honestly I live for ts. I do wish we had more build up, more angst, sexual tension, longing glances and discreet touches in public before they got together. that would have been so peak. maybe I'm just inspired by Bridgerton season 2 and pride and prejudice idk. like this show was peak but it could have been even more peak😭😭so I understand why some people have negative reviews.

the second couple (ramil and his lover) omg I actually can't. I felt so bad for the lover (I forgot his name) like the poor boy does NOT deserve the coward pos ramil is omg!! every time they came on screen I was screaming for the boy to just leave him!! he deserved so much more it pained me and I physically recoiled watching their scenes. idk it just felt so toxic and icky. I am a fan of dark romance and red flags (or at least, I thought I was) but ramil's romance/obsession with his lover honestly made me physically cringe it was so repulsive. I just felt like there was a power imbalance and that it wasn't true love.

all in all, this has gotta be the longest review I've written for a drama. if you've gotten this far, props to you, and honestly please watch this drama it's actually so good if you just switch off and focus on the romance!!

this show is so peak !!!

genuinely I was always looking forward to saturday throughout the week so I could watch this show. does it have it's problems? yes. is it slightly cringe? yes. is it a bit confusing at first? yes. but, honestly it's so gooddddd! it's just so INTRIGUING. this whole premise is something I've never read/watched before and I ate it up every week. I became so invested in both the couples. a crazy psycho obsessive enigma who stalks an s-class alpha he's had a crush on for years, and then pretends to be an omega, the alpha's exact type, all so he can be with him?? sign me TF UP!!

but it was the side couple that eventually stole most of my heart😭. the chemistry, the yearning, the stolen glances, the stares, the angst, the PINING!!! the side couple was so peak y'all don't even understand. I'm still so annoyed by that ending - I demand season 2 just for the second couple!!!
