I think Suzhi was in the grey area. She has been waiting over 10,000 years for revenge but saw how the sisters were took a back seat. Then she got the lamp back but found it was a fake. Then they went heavenly realm to bargain with the evil Heavenly ruler and was willing to overlook her revenge as long as she had some way of bringing the souls back. But once she learned that the previous ruler had killed everyone single one (in a cruel way too) and Tan wouldn't be killing him that's what sealed the lid for her. A pcoriander can only take so much stabs and set backs.

Honestly can't blame ZiWu/Suzhi for going rogue. Like why kill the Void Tryant (the lackey) but spare the Heaven Tyrant (the actual evil hypocrite), don't care that he's her father in law.

It's not just revenge, he has the weight of all those families under the Huo protection who died on his shoulders so for him it's more so avenging. His unexpected love for CSS has caused him to pause and question his decisions but even she admitted that she "wouldn't forgive and would return the pain 1,000 times back".
I kinda understand (not saying it's ok) that he's going to chose justice for the deaths of all those hundreds of people over his love for CSS. Sucks but he's already admitted that he can't let go of the past.

Lowering the FL to bring her to the ML's level while the ML more or less stays the same character wise, typical thing in dramas unfortunately smh

Yea he has always been dark but as they keep showing the layers you see the various levels of just how dark. He's not a bad person nor is he a good person and the fact that he is in between makes him not your typical trope ML
