The cast is so much more unlikable than last season! I thought everyone would be fighting to go to prison but they were all scared of it! What a bunch of wimps. S1 contestants would mop the floor with S2. The most valid complaint of S1 was ganging up to eliminate the talented players and they did that here again, too! I'm so unmotivated to finish it. Hyunjoon is a snake.

I think a lot of men in their 30's are thinking about children so pairing up with women in their 40s might not…
you think women become undesirable based on their ability to conceive? and where are your sources for "a lot of men"? 1 in 10 women who give birth nowadays are in their 40s. source: 2025 government data

jiseong is a liar! she keeps flip-flopping on what she says
she's an interpreter i.e. the profession that's basically obsolete with AI which is why she jumped on Junhan so quick because he could keep her working

I feel like this show concept would be more fun to watch with men in their 30s and women in their 40s instead…
Definitely could be a spin-off! I wouldn't mind another with men in 40s with women in 50s.

24+ hours of VR nonsense, ZERO romance, and expect me to buy the lie of "BL censorship"? No chance.
The show likely suffered because of potential disharmony and disunity. Calling girls fat, saying mental illness is contagious, individualism over collectivism, and the skin drum - which the Dalai Lama's ilk actually did to serf girls. I stayed because of the rave reviews, characters seemed promising, and mentions of Marx. This is more BL-inspired than actual BL, but likely enjoyable for fantasy fans. It's barely OK for me. Can't believe ML not even qubits.

I just learned from the comments episode 9 was the last... I'm in shock.
The pacing is definitely the biggest flaw of the show as I had no idea years were passing. The actors are so good, though. He Yan Zhao is a gem. There's some good class analysis here from He Chu San that Xia Liu Yi was product of his material conditions and not because he - or others on that path - was inherently bad. Looking forward to any continuation in a year or two.

Dated tropes, abusive cliches, internalized misogyny, unimaginative plot, emaciated leads, queer fetishization I thought was left in the 90s... This series made me wish there was harsher censorship. Really thought BL had matured since the weak story lines I read 25+ years ago but here is Revenged Love. Got about 2/3 of the way in to see where the quality was. Never found it. Hope low bar BL is actively suppressed.

I'm a filthy commie so I love me some CPC propaganda. Shove it down my throat. I am so serious.
So when I tell you I was wholly unprepared for how gay this was, believe me. I usually love the default romance in republican era dramas, but this one resurrected the BL fangirl of my teenage years... I couldn't watch the apprentice scene in one sitting because it made me so shy. Whereas there was zero tension for the male/female lead. Every time they were brought up it felt like getting whiplash. The only exception was when they were Jiangxi. And it turned out to be prophetic: have you seen the news about tungsten? It eclipsed gold and copper in the market! Never mind - no prophecy - just good socialist economic planning. Happy May Day!
