OOOOOH. You are right, that may happen. But that would be such a trashy move to save face. Even if the writer pulls that off, this has been hours of depressive scenes, abusive behavior, ridiculous plot twists and more.

I know it's a fictional scenario (very fictional because in real life she could have been sued) but a terrible thing to build up a justification. Specially when you know young people are gonna be watching.
