lots of reasons actually! some may not feel the need to have a wedding as the marriage on paper is what truly matters, but then later on realize that they would like a ceremony. it might also be for financial reasons as weddings can be quite expensive (often a reality for common folks). and for some, it's simply just about finding the right time to hold a ceremony that fits everyone's schedule
