I like its premise but something about the execution of this show makes it hard to care for the characters

Just noticed that the ending songs are different in every episode - and perfectly matched to the mood of their corresponding ending scenes

This was a gripping and well-woven story, from start to end. Sure, the Ggeomeoksali and Primordial Gwi-mae were a bit of a deus ex machina, but it did not detract from the storytelling and the show's overarching allegory for human darkness. I would watch a second season of Gu Cheon and Saeng Gang's adventures

This is so damn good. There's still hope yet for quality C-dramas :')

I'm enjoying the show so far but the excessive glamour shots are getting distracting. I really don't need them to just be standing there with their hair/clothes fluttering prettily when it's already ep 6 and we've already established the characters. Move the story along please. The director needs more restraint

Halfway through the series and I'm still intrigued and entertained. Just came from Can This Love Be Translated?, and after CHANEL and its logo being blatantly thrown around in every episode there, this show feels like its antithesis, which I appreciate on an anti-product placement and anti-consumerist level.

How does individually rating each episode vs rating it as a whole affect the overall score, if I may ask?

Express dropped all the remaining episodes today but I'm not sure I'm ready to say goodbye

I was about to post a breakdown of why I thought the Mr Sima adaptation of the system was actually really smart - in light of Chinese censorship rules and the live action nature of this show (with a stellar lead no less) - but then I went meh,, I'm enjoying it thoroughly and that's enough for me. Also with today's ep 19, the slight reveal that Mr Sima is kinda doing this to groom his successor, the show's internal logic remains coherent

Even in 'male form' the actor for Bei Zhou holds himself in a slightly feminine way, like he really is too used to being in female form - I appreciate that a lot

Ep 14 - that whole part about corporate spiel and efficiencies applied in the most unnecessary ways is relatable and unfortunately too common irl. Is there a tag for satirical comedy? Because this show is 100% one

Plus also that reference to Back to Field in a previous episode with the celebrity that Peng Yu Chang was on for many many seasons!

Wait you can download the srt? How do you do that, if you don't mind sharing please? I watch dramas to buff up my Chinese and I'd love to have both the Eng and Chi subtitles shown concurrently instead of manually switching back and forth all the time

Recommended! Such a fun watch and I wish more live action adaptations are like this one. Genuinely better than the donghua

The filter they use diffuses light and makes everything look a bit blurry - so it's not just the resolution my friends 😂

That reveal was the highlight of the animation's season 1 for me (season 2 is ongoing if you'd like to check it out). It really did give his character more depth and strengthened the audience's support for their relationship since as @Ti02 said she really became his light. Unfortunately for me knowing this meant that I was slightly let down by Cheng Lei's acting for that scene ):
