if you haven't seen it, Boss's movie debut The Paradise of Thorns is incredible and a perfect example of a more mature, serious BL with adults

There's definitely a recent problem with NC in BLs where it isn't needed or feels forced, but if it belongs anywhere, it would have been perfect in this show! They should have made an uncut version because it would fit so well with this script and concept. Also, despite there not being real NC, this show is very sexual in nature and mature themes are talked about a lot (hello, the nude paintings?!), so why the 13+ rating? It should be at least 15+.

Shine (Thailand) - this is my favorite bl i've ever watched and the only one to get 10 stars from me so far
Me and Who (Thailand) - kinda obvious but i feel like it was slept on

a couple things, it analyzes the history of the bl industry, how it spread in Thailand, and the ways this film both plays into and strays away from the conventions of the genre

I completely agree, everything in this analysis is spot one, and we can also see how Jira is drawn to this fiery, toxic, push and pull relationship even if he doesn't want to be. Pheem is nice, but Jira is not as satisfied with "nice" as he pretends to be. They're a perfect match.

why am i just now realizing that apo's parents have really lost their son. even though thorn is "better" to everyone around him, his parents really loved apo and they'll never get him back.

personally, this healed in me what CMBYN broke. all the parts i didn't like from that movie weren't present in this show (the groomingness mostly because the age gap is smaller and they're both adults). and also happy ending.
