haha yeah, I definitely have things that really bug me and this series had 2 of the largest ones (one is terrible communication). If you watch my suggested timings, the series will be more enjoyable to watch overall and you won't need to slog thru stuff like the rest of us did when it was airing :P

yes, that is a real possibility, I call it dramaland stuff

so far it's: non con kisses, non con touching, non con turned consensual, sexual assault, blood, near murder, internal & external homophobia

if it's going off of the movies (I haven't read the book) it goes pretty dark/abusive

I forgot about the earpiece. I looked it up and it seems wireless earpieces were around 2015 so maybe it is supposed to be set a decade ago? From Chinese queer YouTubers I've watched, they've said in the current day, the government (not accepting) is quite different from people (more accepting), but I have no idea what university students would react like especially if this is set 10 years ago.

goodness, I've read/watched so much in between then and now I can't remember but I bet it was smuttier than the live action (as many are lol).

You should watch the whole series which might change your mind. That being said, not every type of character works for everyone.

Different series work for different people, this one didn't work for me. Mostly, I think they tried to do too much in just 4 hours.

in the past they were not together romantically, but they said as friends who loved each other, had a school together and thought of the students as their children

I can definitely see rating it higher, I was really torn with this one. "The green flag version of My Stubborn" is a very apt comparison.
