But what the heck were they thinking with that guitar song? Episode 5 for example, when they're walking to the fireworks? It is such a terrible song! 🤣 Every time it came on I lost my concentration.
Like imagine having a moment then someone just aggressively off key sings la la la LAAAA
Hasn't it been like 4 years? Think it's a done deal. I don't understand why they still try these in China. Is it worth the trouble anymore? I mean imagine shooting all this just to have it fumbled in the end.
Let Taiwan start making these historical dramas. Or at least distribute them if China won't license it. Maybe I am oversimplifying the issue.
The beginning of episode 3 almost made me roundhouse kick him. OMG 🤣. You have a cell phone, turn the flashlight on? Why don't you have a battery powered lamp then? When he sang to him I had to time skip. I had rage induced cringe.
My first watch I did not like the second story very much. My second watch I thought Xing Si and Yong Jie had more chemistry than the main couple in later episodes. Li Cheng and Mu Ren started off strong but when the storyline shifted it got kinda cheesy. Their later episodes weren't really in line with how their characters acted in earlier episodes.
the way you can hear everyone’s lips smacking and their breathing when they’re talking is an absolute sensory…
🤣 thanks for that because now I know not to watch it. I haaaaaate it. Heavy breathing I can deal with most times. But lips making moist noises OMG end of the world.
It was pretty good for being a short film. The only reason the NC scene came off weird (to me) was because I didn't have enough time to develop good feelings for Shuo. He was a cop, knew about the abuse and he was older. He had a moral obligation to hold himself to a higher standard than Light. Light was traumatized. Anything he did was because of that. So it's off-putting that Shuo knew that but still let things progress so quickly.
The MV and the song were very nicely done. It made me realize that the movie is not necessarily in chronological order. Some scenes are subtle flashbacks.
Any one else think watching a lead go from BL/GL to a traditional casting is weird? It gives me whiplash. It's so jarring that I can't get into their series after that. It doesn't matter who it is I will always drop it. If they did BL or GL I can't unsee it lol. Guess they played their previous roles a little too well for my brain to cope with😩
I hated the pompadour haircut they gave Chris. It looked good when his hair was combed out but sitting on top of his head like a Swiss Roll was so distracting 🤣. Don't even get me started on Jake's Dumb and Dumber style bowl haircut.
I almost dropped it early on. The first 2 episodes were especially hard to get through because of how overbearing they made Jake's character. Later he does become somewhat endearing as the pace and plot picks up. But by the end everything is a** hot mess.
I think the issue with the acting is because of how it was directed and not necessarily the actors themselves. There were several instances where I felt like the chemistry was there. Like the 🎂scene. But it was so choppy in a lot of places and came off awkward because it probably was. Like imagine trying to get into it and the director yells cut and to just press lips for 45 seconds 🤣. Their actual kisses were great.

Want to know what offends me? Bo Wei's sideburns. The 70's called. They want their carpets back. Like sir why are they so thicc 🍑
Liking each other for no reason but familiarity.
Zero character development outside existing "for love".
Also, Taiwan is the king of storytelling and cinematography. I hope they don't start adopting the cliche and repetitive style of Thai BLs.

It was only 37 minutes and did everything and more without 50 episodes.

I liked the side couple so much better😮💨
