welp there goes me being extremely attached to every character

Dude I'm so happy that I got into this franchise 😭Personally as someone who went a little out of order watching the entire series (the seasons + the movies), season 2 filled in a lot of plot and character details that add so much to the entire story, which I already loved and became obsessed with. But regarding season two itself, I find it so easy to get attached to the cast of characters we are introduced to and seeing all the great friendships blossom & become something so much bigger. A series like this always keeps you on your toes and is already introducing the next complex character, tense situation, or badass scene.

This season is really essential to the whole overriding theme of friendship/loyalty and the whole "we're stronger together" message. A franchise like this easily sells this basic theme too considering how simple yet done to justice every character and their arcs are done. My favorite characters, Murayama and Todoroki, get their backstories in this season, and they are THE essential characters of the series, the two characters that really bridge the original cast to the new generation in The Worst movies. Murayama is the star of the franchise, pretty much the epitome of what the series is trying to show, and he SHINES in this season. He's such a well-written character and so rounded. I would go on about him but I don't want to turn this review into an essay, so I digress. Murayama has the fullest development of any character, and by contrast, Todoroki at this point is still the antithesis to everything Murayama/the series represents. Todoroki is such a cool character and my personal enjoyment comes from both a place of relating to him but also simply enjoying his snarky, ambitious attitude. Other than that, I just love that Todoroki is a character who originally fought to defend himself, and then started giving 0 fucks and simply thought fighting was fun. I love that. Seeing the dynamic & rivalry of these 2 is highly rewarding.

My only critiques of this season is that some of the backstory scenes, especially that of Kohaku's storyline get a little dragged out (I had the same issue with the movie(s) that explored his character in depth) so the pacing gets a little slow in at least one episode, but considering the entire show does drag things out a little from time to time I'm used to it by now and it's not really that bad. I will also say that because of certain flashbacks I got a little confused on chronological order of some things but that goes back to the watch order thing mostly.

Join the fun and watch HiGH&Low. This is only one of two shows I've seen that has made me genuinely fixated on the fandom aspect.
