Oh wow, I think you're right! I didn't even notice that detail until you pointed it out. It seems like a deliberate choice to include those two female characters in the background, along with that line of dialogue.

This romance was in the original Japanese drama, but it didn't get as much emphasis. The HK version expanded on Francesca's character a lot more than the original. I love her relationship with Louis as well. Her storyline might be the biggest surprise for me in the remake, and I'm so invested in Francesca's journey. <3

Thanks for voicing out exactly what was on my mind. I wanted to write a comment like this myself, but didn't know how to put my thoughts into words. This BL drama means so much to me. I still can't believe it actually got made, but I'm so glad it exists. ❤️
