I assume by now we've all finished this wonderful drama?
If not, DON'T read on...
It would take a month of Sundays to review the whole drama...it was THAT good, so I'm choosing to concentrate just on the final episode and say...I LOVED the end, especially the long apx. 5 mins of their final reconciliation which is in reality truly a good chunk of time, especially for an Asian drama.

So...A few thoughts:

When Luke finally, finally kissed her (and isn't Jing Boran extremely good at translating eagerness and intensity without words plus we must give Sun Qian her due too as she definitely holds her own in these scenes...it does take two to tango to make passion seem real), well, it was truly a goosebump moment for me...the staging and timing was genius but truth be told this drama was full of those kinds of moments...I am sure collective sighs were probably heard worldwide.

AND so. many. kudos, to the direction and shooting of that exquisite "dance" into the bedroom ...Lordy....I thought for sure they'd fade to the next day when they went through the door, as that is the usual MO, BUT the powers that be were kind enough to give us more!! IT WAS GORGEOUSLY DONE!! The direction and cinematography of these moments (and truly throughout this drama) was A+++++. The shots of hands and feet in this sequence so relayed the passion and the fervor and the tension and the emotion and the depth between them.

AND a minute later, still reeling from the scene I'd just watched, I laughed out loud when Luke followed her out of the bedroom and addressed her dad..."Mr. Shang......" lolz....soooooo good....One thing this drama has managed to do throughout, for me, is balance the light and dark moments of the story arc so well...Episodes like #5 or #20 will forever live in my head and heart...

AND I'm gonna give it a lot of leeway for the cheesy proposal scene...I mean it really isn't a Chinese drama without a cheesy proposal scene, right? This one was Okay, for me especially because it did so many flashbacks to their relationship which helped me keep things in sequential order and kind of "sealed the deal" on how hard they worked, what they overcame, and how their love and tenacity sort of forced the hand of fate to acknowledge them as a couple.

Interestingly I seem to almost always have a tiny bit of let down at the end of a lot of melodramas. Maybe because the angst and ups and downs in the relationship, especially in such a well done drama as this one was, become almost addicting so when the end comes, too much happiness can almost be anticlimactic but I didn't feel that here...and maybe because Episode 24 gave us enough angst and then passion and finally happiness that it left us sated? 🤷🏼‍♀️

If I have one complaint it would be the occasional continuity problem in the drama...what happened when, the time between break-ups and reunites felt, at times, choppy...BUT I am guessing, because as a whole the drama was so beautifully done, that if it's true the choppiness was the result of the incredible amount of edits we heard that this drama went through...There is no way losing 8 episodes worth of footage would not result in some continuity problems! So SHAME ON THE CHINESE CENSORS...I don't know that I'll ever forgive them for this one... 😉

Finally I think this grand experiment for Chinese drama creators to use, for the first time, an intimacy coordinator was a stroke of genius...so I am gonna guess that a LOT more top tier dramas in the future will utilize one as well, meaning we are probably witnessing a pivotal point in how CDz will address passion and intimacy in future dramas...so here's a BIG thank you to The Early Spring for opening that door!👍

In the end for all involved, The Early Spring is a drama everyone who worked on it should be extremely proud of. It was a truly a beautifully made and very satisfying drama and I'll miss it....

Oh and iykyk...thank god for Tan Mian's interference with that video......
