Dongyoon promoted this drama in running man, I read the synopsis and decided to watch it. I haven't watch the orig series but I have to say I'm impressed with this drama - def a very well written story. Both Dongyoon and Go Hyunjung portrayed their characters so well. I enjoyed it immensely!
There are def better legal kdramas but this is also not bad, have sufficient variety of cases. First saw their poster and thought how could they thought to pair up these main lead actor & actress given that much of age gap between them but fortunately, their romance is just 3% of the drama.
So happy to see kim kangmin here. Hope I'll see him more in the future!
Compared to historical cdramas, this is def lacking. It's not perfect, there are scenes where you think it's ridiculous (esp the ending) but overall, I enjoyed it. They cast the actor best fit for the king character. Icb yoona and him have 10 years age gap bc they look like the same age ðŸ˜
Still pissed me off like any red flag lead character but I definitely prefer this adaptation better to the korean one which I dropped at ep 2. Ren is the perfect visual representation of tragically beautiful fallen angel who will draw you to them willingly even you know there is a possibility of painful death. Dramatic but that's the only I could give justice to his character and charisma lol. I always love how japanese dramas make characters more human, giving their more depth and make you connect to them on emotional level realistically. That's what they did with the marry my husband adaptation. Japanese dramas always hit different bruh.
"Remember whether you are someone's wife or a mother, never forget that above all, you are yourself. Don't let any single identity confine you."
Love love love how He Yan always emphasized the women have the ability & strength to be anything they wanted to be even with society constraints. Also, when Xiao Jue said he wanted her to measure his waist with her hands, I need MINUTES to pause & recover ðŸ˜
They always get a good novel for live adaptation, add on their "ideas" they think would make it better but 90% of the time, they fail miserably 😠This is unfortunately one of those times. I honestly love the novel, enjoyed reading it but for whatever reason, they think it's a good thing to make it overdramatic & bring in an evil spoiled step bro to create conflicts. They need to stop thinking more conflicts equals to great script. The series focus more on the drama created by the step bro instead of Armin's acting career journey. I am actually impressed with the author esp with the plots of each movie/dramas Armin starred in. The only good thing about this series is the insane chemistry of the leads. Kinda reminds of top form, amazing lead actors but not so good scripts. I would love to see Peter & Pond again in a series with better script.
If we don't view things thru rose-colored glasses, it's kinda messed up like wdym they said the three words to each other & kissed then the guy ghost him AGAIN?! He has his reasons but he should not made her hope when he knows he will leave again that's cruel 😠bruh i would say thank you next at first ghosting 😆 I don't like how her happiness depended on his existence & presence that every time he leave, she curls up, shut out from the world & be sad asf. Tbh, he did not deserve her. But bc this is a series, we're gonna pretend it's ok bc he has his reasons lmao. Cdrama says you can't have your green flag guy this time.
The child actress should be everywhere in series & movies bc she is so gooood. She literally carried the whole series with other great casts & clever storyline. More people should watch this series. It's crazy how this is not getting the hype it deserves, that I need to be searching 2 years later its release series under thriller genre by top rating for me to find this gem.
Damn from start right until the last minute, the story delivery is great. Little details were added to make everything clearer. Love how they focus more on her spending her second life doing what she wants to do & fight for her happiness than actual revenge on people who betrayed her. I have to say I love this adaptation more than the korean one. Japanese dramas really hits differently.
Not bad but not an amazing series either. Now, if they stayed true to the English peerage theme like the webtoon, as a historical romance reader & imagining taec as a duke...well, that has potential. The core storyline of an ordinary girl being stuck in her favorite novel as an extra being able to enjoy it at the sideline then turning into the actual female lead is pretty interesting. Idk if the execution of that story in the webtoon is good but in this series, it is like average. Idk I need majestic show with flair of how amazing & chaotic that experience would be and I did not get that. Maybe my expectation was too high lol.
Maybe because I've watched a lot of thriller, mystery & crime korean dramas before watching this, the drug plot is pretty weak here. And are they gonna drag that out until ep 16? They're going in circles 😠The comedy element is not even that prominent. I continue watching only for park bogum and for the hope that the plot will get better.
"When he put on the headphones, he said we can go to a place without dad...."
That and the things he said after in a soft voice gave me goosebumps bruh. A lot of people have no business having children just because they can but they do to continue their stupid legacy & unfulfilled dreams, it's kinda fcked up. The true villain in this series is his father. The way this has more fighting scenes than action films is crazy lmao. Really good show, I enjoyed it!
I just knew the japanese adaptation would be refreshing! Love how they add details to this. The "substitute thingy" is much clearer showing the entrance pass & burning hands scenes & the script detail is perfect as well! They go with emotional path rather than revenge theme with this adaptation and I respect that. It feels like rewatching marry my husband again but in different perspective. I can't wait for the next episodes!

P.S. Still waiting for a bl edit of Gyeon U & Jiho with all those skinships & very domestic scenes 😆
