Somewhat mysterious...

To be honest, I decided to watch it because Lee is in it and I've liked what I've seen him in so far. The story is intriguing, sweet, cheesy, funny and annoying - seriously, all of those. I had heard of all the male leads, but only seen a few of them in dramas - I didn't know what one of them (Off) looked like! Generally, the acting is good and characters believable.

What I liked: I was impressed with Nanon's acting - interesting part. Krist was really good and some of his facial expressions were hilarious/impressive. I'll look for more of his stuff. Mix - 3rd drama I've seen & this is my favourite character so far.

What I didn't like: some of the female characters were just annoying!

I'll watch to the end because I think the 'secret bar' idea has been cleverly done and now I want to know more about it. If you want to watch something that's not too complicated and can keep you intrigued, this might be one to watch.

Update: I felt that the ending was rushed , but there were explanations for some of the Jungle's behaviour. There was a (micro) scene (with Off) near the end, which felt like it wasn't in the script and made me laugh out loud.

Overall, I'd recommend watching it. It was fun.

Mini Romance

This has a bit of everything: romance, comedy, mystery, traumatising history, evil stepbrothers - everything was thrown in. It's a very light romance with a large slice of mystery.

What I liked: easy to watch, a few twists, the CEO's assistant was fun, male lead was sweet
What I didn't like: they made the female lead into the bossy stereotypical female CEO (sigh...), second female was clueless and silly, second male was a stereotypical, slightly gruff but secretly kind character (because he fell for someone!).

I don't think I would watch it again, but it was OK as a light drama where I didnt have to think much.

Misunderstandings galore

I had this on hold for a long time as I found the first episode (especially Yai) really annoying. I finally got back to it and it's still a little annoying.

There were some genuinely funny scenes (often with P'Park and P'Pong) but also scenes that didn't make sense. I know it's a drama, but some of the behaviour was ridiculous.

What I liked: often, the way that Mangkorn (Mos) looked at Yai (Bank) - so full of love - touched me. The comedic touches with P'Park and P'Pong was sometimes hilarious. Some of the NC scenes were so erotic, but paradoxically, beautiful and they highlighted the way new lovers would behave. The ending, although predictable, made me teary.

What I didn't like: how many times can an adult pout? Quite a lot it seems - Yai needed to stop it. It was tiresome to watch. The lack of communication between Mangkorn and Yai was irritating...and when they did communicate, it was at the last minute. I know there was a reason, but please!! P'Nine was so cute, but really couldn't read the room. I felt sorry for him, but also surprised by what he did. Read the room!!

Overall, the fact that it was short was in its favour. I don't think I could have watched any more episodes with all that pouty miscommunication.

Love again

Honestly, I don't know how to describe this. I started watching it, then I stopped, then started again and stopped again. I think it's because I wasn't really invested in it. I've finally finished it. It was only 6 episodes but it was a struggle by the time i got to episode 5.

The scenery was beautiful. The huge window in the café was lovely. Day was gorgeous. I understand that coming out and declaring your love is frightening and (sometimes, in real life) very risky. I understand that it takes courage because you don't really know how the other person feels until then and I understand that Night was really anxious (about everything). Having said all of that, I didn't care enough. I wanted him to be brave.

Despite what I've said, the pace of the story and the agonisingly (in my head) long periods where nothing much seemed to happy are realistic...because love, especially unrequited love, can feel painful when it doesn't immediately give you to the fairy tale ending you want.

Completely crazy

I've never heard of the Tootsies, but it looked like it would be fun.

There were some over the top camp moments and some ridiculous moments. The first scene was awful - I don't like that sort of humour (I had to fast forward) but I hoped it would get better. It did!

They were some real laugh out loud moments. There were truly silly moments.

What I liked: despite having really silly moments, there were some real life issues in the film: pretending to like your partner's 'daughter', pretending not to notice something is slightly off with your partner, being desperate to have a child (for whatever reason!) and willing to do anything.

What I didn't like: stereotypical camp gay men. I accept there are lots of camp gay men, but at times it felt like too much. It didn't detract from the fun of the film though (because the campiness was part of the fun!)

It won't win any prizes but there was enough to keep me watching without being bored.

Dramatic silliness

I've been wanting to watch this for months and finally got round to it. I also wanted to see Off in a drama as I've only seen him in The Jungle.

It was odd, while at the same time not! I'm not sure there are many people who would be thrilled to help create a 'booking' system for sex workers. I understand that making enough money was the main objective.

What I liked: the main characters. I could believe that Kat (played by Jan) was looking for a way out of her life, but was loyal to her mum. I could believe that Mote (played by Off) was a chancer, who had strands of gold in his heart. I could believe that Sun (played by Mond) had childhood trauma which left him controlling, but needy. This is the second time I've seen Mond in the role of a baddie, but this time he was obsessive verging on psychopathic. Great acting.

What I didn't like: at times there was too much slapstick silliness.

It was enjoyable, but I don't usually watch a drama more than once and I definitely wouldn't watch this again.

Crazy fun

This was a silly and a bit ridiculous short drama but so much fun!

I've only ever seen Nanon's acting skills in The Jungle (loved it and him) and had no idea who Film was...but they were great together. Film's character (Neon) was over the top, but so cute. I loved her. So many of the characters were crazily over the top, but it all seemed to work.

The kissing scenes were sweet but didn't feel cheesy, just sweet. The idea of Nanon (Night) being a toyboy was crazy....but somehow I could see it. The ending was unbelievable but, again, fun.

If you want short silliness, you could do much worse than watch this.

Villainous behaviour

I've watched a few Chinese dramas and many were from this company.

I liked the female lead's portrayal as a blind person. I thought it was realistic - so well done. From some angles, the male lead looked like Ji Chang Wook and, initially, I wondered if he had a younger brother who was a star in China 🙄

All the actors were good - leads and supports.

What I liked - the story was convoluted in parts, but OK. The villainous fiancé was hilarious (don't think he was meant to be!) - he was a caricature of all the villainous boyfriends in all the over the top stories. The duplicitous best friend was a nice touch too. The scene where Lin Xin Tong went into the bedroom was well done.
What I didn't like: Lin Xin Tong's childishness in the beginning. Some of the final scenes were silly.

I would recommend watching it, as it's a nice story with a bit of mystery, romance and comeuppance.

Unspoken Love

I'm still fairly new to the BL world, so there are lots of dramas that have been recommended that I haven't watched.

I've seen Singto in Baker Boys and know of Ohm (but not seen Bad Buddy yet!). I love supernatural stories so thought this might be interesting, but that was all. I was surprised as the acting was great and the story was clever with lots of fun and angst.

I didn't expect the ending or the flirting that happened then!

What I liked: Ohm's acting was great. When he was cute, he was great. When he was angry, he was great. When he was in pain, he was great. Outstanding scenes for me were the coming out to mum scene (brilliant) and the confrontation scene with grandpa.
Also, a younger, lovelorn Chimon was so sweet. His character felt relatable. The scene where he confessed made me smile and I was hopeful it would turn out OK.

What I didn't like: scenes where Singto was pouty were cringey and unnecessary.

Overall, it hooked me in and I had to see it through to the end.

Cute Crush

Really liked it...but I'm not sure why! Imagine having such a crush that you don't know what to do with yourself or how to behave when you see that person. Imagine realising that it somehow crept up on you!

It was a lovely short drama.

What I liked: Yinwar. I've only seen them in music videos and a trailer (a mini drama itself!) for their concert. I love War's (who played Best) acting; his expressions are great. I liked Best's friends - nicely portrayed as true friends who hugged and tried to cheer up their friend when he was down. There were so many things I thought were sweet.
What I didn't like: not overly fond of school dramas, but it was sweet

Quirky fun

Ridiculous idea which could have turned out really badly...but it was funny, silly and sad. A homophobic cop (Greg Hsu) messes up again and again until he finds himself in the biggest mess he's made: somehow he ends up marrying a man (Austin Lin)...who happens to be dead!

It was inevitable that the cop would have an epiphany and become less (and eventually not) homophobic but the journey there was fun (and sometimes I just rolled my eyes).

What I liked: good looking male leads! There were some laugh out loud (and I did), verging on slapstick, scenes throughout the film and especially towards the end. I admit that the ambulance scene made me sad and then almost cheer.

What I didn't like: the reason the female character was looking for vengeance was too obvious for my liking, but I could see that it brought a major part of the story to its conclusion.

Overall, a fun film which is worth watching if you fancy trying something different.

Oh my...

Well...this is the story of a dysfunctional friendship group with lots of toxicity and poor behaviour. I guess there must be some friendships that are this bad in real life, but my advice would be to run.

Straight off in the early episodes, there are a number of NC scenes. They are the kind that leave much to the imagination...but also don't....(the car scene!).... Neo (Boston) as a jealous, sex obsessed 'good friend' is not what I expected, but he's very good at it. Mark (Nick) as the lover who wants to be a permanent fixture in Neo's life is heartbreaking to watch. It's that feeling of desperation and longing that is almost too much to bear. There's a particular scene that really showed all the pain of wanting and finding out the truth and he was great.

What I like: Neo's acting - I've only seen him in roles where he plays the slightly silly friend, but his role as the jealous, selfish friend, is well acted. Mark's acting: I thought I didn't know who he was, but then realised he was in Moonlight Chicken. Such different roles and he's so good. I think I love him! 🫣 Khaotung (Ray): complex character, well acted, great facial expressions (as usual)

What I don't like: there are parts of Neo's role that feel like he's a cartoonish villain. Force: I don't like the character and not impressed by his acting.

It's like reading a book and you want to know what happens in the next chapter, so I'll be watching until the end.

Just watched episode 6 - Book's acting in this episode was top tier (no pun!). I haven't liked his acting before, but the last scene was brilliant. So wicked and so cool, but so full of raw emotion.

This is becoming crazy! It was heartbreaking to watch Mark's character as he sobbed, but what a good actor! There are so many self-serving characters that I can't look away....

I'm still watching this toxic mess and every week, Neo's acting and character get better.

Episode 9: what I liked: First (Sand) and Khaotung (Ray) have great lines and have such tender, sweet scenes. Loved it. Neo's acting (obviously!)
What I didn't like: not sure I like Papang's character (Daddy (ugh!) Dan) - a mix of needy and a little creepy

Cringingly funny

I started watching because the algorithm brought it up and I thought I'd give it a try. I'm not going to lie....I spent a lot of time wondering why I was watching it. It was slow and a bit lame.

Let's be real here - Sky is a stalker. I've said it! Sitting outside someone's house every day isn't normal, especially when your crush clearly has no interest in you....but this is the BL world.

However....every so often, I can't stop laughing. Sky/Guy's jealous face makes me laugh as does his 'pouty toddler face'. He has such a lovely smile too! My favourite face is the utter disdain on Venus' face when I know he's thinking: what is he saying?' - about Sky. I also laugh as he desperately tries not to laugh in some scenes. Sometimes I don't know if I should laugh or cringe at some of the scenes.

Janus & Bom are fun and their NC scene took me (and Venus!) by surprise. Tonkla and Tong are a bit dull....but they are probably the most real: two busy people trying to keep their relationship from falling apart.

Venus and Sky's first NC scene was a bit more realistic than I expected, in some places! In fact, most of their NC scenes were way more realistic than I expected.

What I liked: Janus - he can be so full of angst one minute and then really funny the next. There's a particular scene in the last episode that made me laugh so much. He was like a crazy person.

Something else that made me laugh is Sky's weird contorted mouth when he was kissing - he didn't do it every time. It seemed to be when he was in an awkward position. I found it so funny that I'm laughing now as I think about it!

What I didn't like: Sky's over the top toddler behaviour when he didn't get what he wanted. Stop!

Overall, not the best BL drama I've seen but it was funny for so many reasons.

Gorgeous gangsters

There isn't a love triangle but there's definitely some sort of geometrical shape where person A is clearly interested in person B but person B only has eyes for person C but then loops back to person A.

The acting is great, the looks of love are heartfelt and the fierceness feels so real. It also has some funny moments. I like all the main characters. The story isn't just a love story (or two) but there are themes of sacrifice, loyalty and family. Each episode is around 30 minutes and they are packing it all in.

I loved it and I had my fingers crossed that it would all work out.

What I liked: Bai Zong Yi's family especially the way his dad accepted reality. Ai Di's feistiness!
What I didn't like: the violence (one episode in particular) was too much for me sometimes. There were a few caricatures of baddies (I know that it happens a lot) and of those wanting revenge.

Cake looked good too!

Annoyingly Cute

I love time travel stories. I love stories where characters try to fix issues in their past (like the film The Butterfly Effect). So far, I like this.

This is only the second drama I've seen with Krist. He's still pulling weird, but funny, faces! His character (Kawi) is a bit of a loser who can't seem to get anything right. I feel for him every time he hesitates as it feels so relatable. I feel for him every time he wants to be close to the girl he likes - Pear (Aye) - but doesn't know how to do it. It's relatable because it's hard to put yourself out there and hope you won't feel crushed. He feels utterly crushed.

I find much of this interesting because hindsight is an incredible thing. We assume that if we went back to a particular time or place, we could fix it and it would all be OK. In reality, how could it be? We would only be accounting for our effort and not of other people. There's a domino effect in everything: a slight nudge in a different direction must make everything that follows slightly different...surely?

What I like: Krist's acting. Gawin's character (Pisaeng's cool hotness). Aye's lovely character (Pear)
What I don't like: The whining of Krist's character - act your age and take a chance (but it is relatable!)

I was surprised by the transformation of Krist's character from whining and annoying university student to wise and mature young man. It was a good transformation and beautifully acted by Krist - I believed every version of the character.

I admit that the last episode brought a few tears to my eyes. It was sad, thoughtful and joyful.
