I mean….just because it’s got feminism in it, there can’t be a good man who does the right thing also? I hate how feminism has turned from its original intent of “women are good, too” to “women are good, men are evil.” Men can be good, too! I was glad to see somewhat of a balance in this drama, even though it’s totally unrealistic that she could beat up men like that, lol. Men are naturally stronger physically than women. we can pretend it’s not true with these “girl boss” ideals in movies/dramas, but we are fooling ourselves if we start believing it.

come on…seriously?! she continually belittled him, used him and was rude and hateful to him. she was an entitled, narcissist spoiled brat who didn’t deserve him.

exactly. SHE felt embarrassed so she happily sat there and let HIM be the one to be embarrassed instead. Selfish narcissistic brat.

I understood her character enough to know that she’s obnoxious, narcissistic and totally undeserving of a slavishly obedient guy who accepts her abuse silently and thanks her for it. That’s all I needed to see to understand…but you are obviously free to disagree. just because I don’t agree with you doesn’t mean I don’t “deserve to make a review,” lol. 😆

question: is this a “I don’t need no man” type drama? Like the girl boss is better than him and always ends up rescuing him kind of thing? sometimes that’s fine but I’ve seen way too many lately and want an old fashioned type drama next. if someone could tell me that would be so nice so I don’t waste my time on it….😂 thank you!! ❤️

this drama will drain you emotionally because there is so much negativity in the drama but if you start watching…
Thanks for the warning. I don’t need that in my life right now but would have gotten sucked in and watched it anyway. Seriously, thank you.

can someone give me a brief synopsis? love the leads, but seems like I need some motivation to start it ❤
Seems to be a three part (4 eps each) story of three generations of a family and their stories of love and life. The first set is about a daughter of a sea diver mother who fiercely loves her daughter but dies young, leaving her daughter duty bound to care for her stepfather and halal siblings, even though she dreams of being a poet. There is a boy from a higher class who has obviously and doggedly loved her from childhood who is the male lead of this segment. There is drama that occurs, of course, and an arranged marriage which at the last minute the fl decides to forgo and marry the ml instead.

Here is where I will devolve a bit. You may LOVE this drama after watching. I hope you give it a try and I hope you really will love it. I am dropping this after the first segment because I have never EVER seen a fl who is more abhorrent in literally any drama I’ve watched. She is completely self obsessed and so utterly cruel constantly to the ml, who bows his head, dutifully taking her abusive tirades and then goes about trying to make her happy harder. She actually makes him sell her food at the market (as well as his own) while she sits reading a book ignoring him. I am just wanting to give you fair warning, if this kind of thing bugs you like it does me, maybe skip this one lol. Maybe I should press on and she will be better, but honestly she’s SO bad I don’t even WANT a happy ending for her. I want the sweet boy to run away fast and find someone who will cherish him, not abuse him. Anyway, rant over. Lol, I hope this helped a little.

ok, sounds like this is a 4 episode split of stories, so I’m safe to do the first set lol. (I don’t do sad endings). Thank you for an awesome review!

wow, what an awesome review. Was wondering if I should jump into this one, but I think I’ll skip for now. Would it be rude to ask here if you could give a few period dramas you really do like? I think I would trust your opinion and just watch them, lol. Anyways, thanks again for such an intelligent and well thought out review. 👏🏻

Title The White Olive Tree Spoiler
what are you talking about?! they took their lives at the end…! It’s certainly not the actor’s fault, and…
Normally I would not get “worked up,” but this one is clearly advocating and promoting suicide as the way out. Your mental gymnastics to try and say they aren’t portraying this as what it was is kind of sad. Obviously, in any film, the interpretation when you see a SEE-THROUGH GLOWING character who is shown suddenly happy and doing well in a dreamlike state after their previously normal solid and non-glowing character has been been stated with finality that they will “never get well,” it’s OBVIOUSLY showing that they have died. And obviously they both didn’t magically die of natural causes after taking a trip to the country saying goodbye to their families and leaving all their possessions behind….come on. They’re obviously showing that they killed themselves. The amount of harm this could do to a massive population of impressionable depressed young people who idolize these characters is frightening. It was irresponsible and horrible for them to do, and people SHOULD be upset and “worked up” about it.

sooo….you’re advocating for suicide, then? How is a message saying don’t kill yourself controversial? Maybe the message is to hang on and keep working towards a better life for yourself? I’m sincerely confused by your review.

The drama is amazing! I really love the main leads, especially how Li Zan (CZ) looks at Song Ran (LJ) with such…
what?! how was it a happy ending when they unalived themselves? I don’t get how people think this is a happy ending….
