I am at ep 36 now and honestly wish I’d dropped it. The fl is so incredibly toxic she’s ruining the whole story. it’s one of those “he has to bow to her every (mostly unreasonable) whim or she leaves him and then he begs and begs her to come back so she scolds him and then comes back just to leave him again” type of things. I absolutely wasted my time and got rage baited in the process, which I hate SO much… I hope for your sake that you dropped it.

I’ve tried so many times to get through this and gave up in disgust. This time I’m almost at the end, and I have to say this is a horrible story. Yes, the fl’s mother is a toxic hag, but the fl is a toxic and awful human being also. She pursues and begs the ml to take her back, promising to love and support him bravely this time, and the minute she gets him back she demands that he change who he is to please her, that he quit the job he loves to please her, and that he share info from his past that he doesn’t feel comfortable to share yet. When he doesn’t do enough to please her, she threatens to leave him EVERY TIME she gets upset over anything. He then has to grovel to her over and over until she finally accepts him back, even then she guilts him nonstop. She even lies to and deceives his little sister into giving her the information she can’t get out of the ml…info she doesn’t even need, she even admits this and says it’s just because she wants to know and doesn’t agree with him keeping anything from her….while simultaneously leaving him, not telling him where she is, not telling him that she got hurt, etc. So, it’s ok for her to lie and keep secrets and make decisions without consulting him, but if he steps one toe out of her favor, she goes scorched earth on him. UGHH. She’s such a major red flag…I wish he’d leave her and find someone who actually respects him.

I’ve tried many times to watch this as it has such rave reviews, and thought I was ignorant because I just could not get past the first few episodes, it was so confusing and boring…thank you for your review! I’m going to educate myself a little about the gaming aspect and then give it another try on your recommendation (which was really well written, by the way). Thanks! 💕

I love Chinese dramas, I really do. But I just have to say that for some reason, the fl’s almost always make me absolutely crazy by the third ep. Somehow in their great agenda to show how liberated women are now, they make them totally arrogant and unlikable.

If there’s any conflict whatsoever, it will 100% be the ml’s fault, and he will have to grovel…and then apologize for groveling even if it happens that it was clearly her fault.

If there is a love confession, the ml will absolutely be blamed for not confessing properly…and then he will have to grovel.

If there is danger, he will, as a professional protector, tell her to stay still and let him deal with it. She will then 100% not listen and run straight into danger, putting everyone’s life at risk and getting the ml hurt. Then, in the hospital, he will need to apologize to her for some stupid reason she makes up to be mad about before she finally forgives him for rescuing her.

The female characters seem to spend 90% of the time livid angry with any handy male character…it’s just so annoying.

if they made characters with enough sense to just be borderline smart, it would make the story so much better then it already is!

That said, there’s so much to enjoy about cdramas, I’m not hating on all of it…just wish they could fix this one problem.

yet in most of the newer ones the fl is an absolute jerk who abuses the ml. so…yeah, there’s that.

first of all, a phobia is when someone is afraid of something, not when they disagree with it.

secondly, I think what people who don’t enjoy watching bl content are trying to convey is: “seriously? grow up. two guys CAN be really close friends without being homosexual.”

I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to see someone else who has a brain and is able to use it and see what is actually going on. It really is so toxic how they’re pushing this idea that women are supposed to be horrid, abrasive and always dominant like that makes them better than men. I wish they’d just take out toxic traits from men and keep both as regular human beings without having to excuse bad behavior in one but holding the other to an impossible standard.

I know everyone is different, but personally I love storylines with physically strong dominant men and emotionally strong, smart and brave women where they aren’t afraid to have her rescued by him, and where she is a smart and brave heroine who isn’t afraid to be feminine. Again, I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s how almost every timeless classic became one…it works and always has. At least for me, lol. Anyways, I loved your comment. 💕

you don’t even know how to read, so I’m not going to argue with you, lol. you even invent things to get offended about. 😂 Life has a way of repaying people like you with what you impose on others, so don’t be surprised someday to find yourself in a position where you’ve been accused of something and can’t defend yourself, and when that happens and everyone who used to be your friend turns on you and assumes you’re guilty even with no proof of your crime, just hearsay, and you’re left all alone with that…remember that you did that to others unrepentantly believing evil of someone just because someone said it on Reddit, and you’ll know that you got exactly what you deserved.

question: I’m about halfway through ep2, and I want to drop this drama at this point. To all appearances at this point, the fl is an utterly obnoxious, lying, self obsessed user of people who has absolutely zero redeeming qualities or reasons for me to want her to succeed, and is preying on an obviously vulnerable ml who is lonely and sad, and at this point I am hoping he runs from her toxicity permanently. Does this change at any point, or does it stay this way throughout, and he just is there to be subservient to her “girl boss” vibes? If someone could fill me in I’d appreciate it! thanks! 🥰

I never said you don’t deserve to live…read the whole thing before crumbling into a breakdown. people like you are so spoiled and self centered. stop being so fragile and grow up. Nobody can “make a nice person like me” say anything mean, you’re choosing to be mean, so be ashamed of yourself. I have nothing to be ashamed of—standing up for someone who has been accused but not even remotely proven guilty is not something to be ashamed of, it’s something we all should do. I’m standing up to the bully….yes, that’s you. You’re the bully. You’re a nasty and entitled person who takes being called out over what they’re saying that’s WRONG, and then says back to that person things like “I bet your parents hate you.” Then calls themselves the “nice person” and tries to be a victim. Try to grow up and use your brain and put yourself in someone else’s shoes, because eventually it’ll be you needing someone to have a little faith in you when you’re accused of doing something.
