Tingyin approached mrs.yu because she wants to clear her name, right? but what about zhao ling, is he actually…
yes, and most likely yes.
she wants to clear her name, and also make a name for herself. but she admits that she is a woman and cannot do that without a man. that's why she needs zhao ling.
so she is trying to kill two birds with one stone: help zhao ling lead a life where he no longer needs to hide (aka have him aid the crown prince's investigation, stop smuggling salt / doing illegal work, and go legit) and also have him be her access to the world of the influential that only men are allowed to enter.
after episode 6 I want to ask: are they gonna get married soon so they can climb the social ladder together?
i haven't read the novel, but i hope they do. when talking to the crown prince, she keeps calling the ml her fiance / husband, so she should commit to the act now lol.
I genuinely love all of ding yuxi's work. His acting is really natural. But unfortunately, not a fan of the FL,…
it wasn't because of the actors, but i dropped melody of golden age. i find the story and execution of the road to splendor to be much more solid. love the fl in this one. her acting has improved and there were several of her performances that made me emotional. definitely worth checking out!
Lmao, weren't people crying yesterday that the ML had no screentime in the first few episodes?I watched 2 eps…
exactly! this isn't a female centric drama. the fl only had a little bit more screentime than the ml in the first few episodes, but only because most of the drama took place at the fu mansion and we needed her backstory first to set up the foundation of the main story.
i did not check the rest of the cast list before watching this drama, so the crown prince's face reveal was as surprising to me as it was for our leads. i cannot take this actor seriously lol. all i hear when i see his face is "ζδΈη₯ι (I don't know)", his line from LOTFG. π
i am on the fence of starting this drama as a HUGE dyx fan who is often let down by his drama choices -- could…
imo, the fl is smart and very capable, but she's young and inexperienced, so there are things she has to learn the hard way. she does need help sometimes because of the circumstances she gets put in, but i wouldn't call her a traditional damsel in distress, as she also knows how to save herself and others. i don't want to give away too much, but there is a scene where she needed to step up for herself, and she delivereddd. it was such a powerful moment, i was left in awe of her resilience.
if you are a fan of dyx, this is a great drama to watch. it's beautifully shot, well written, and so addicting! just fyi though, the first few episodes will focus more on the fl. he is in every episode, but episodes 1-3 will have more scenes of her.
ngl, i kind of like it lol. i'm so tired of seeing people downvote a drama purely out of spite even though there aren't even enough episodes out yet to form a fair opinion. this is a refreshing change for once.
For real!Girl was dead serious. His facial expression was a mixture of appealing and appalling . .. it was at this…
they were amazinggg.
i wasn't snacking (i wish i was!), but i definitely replayed those scenes a few times just so i could really take in those performances. it feels so good to have characters we can fall in love with and root for in this way again!

you know what's funny? the scheming, the drama, the betrayals... most of that took place at the fu mansion. so how was a complete outsider to the fu family like zhao ling supposed to magically appear in every single one of those scenes? he doesn't live there lol.
it's like you said, some people are so impatient. they just want certain characters to pop up in random situations even if it doesn't make any narrative sense. there is a time and place for everything. which is why when zhao ling's screentime increased in episode 4, the payoff was glorious. π
i can't stop thinking about how wonderful ep4 is. specifically the rain scene (iykyk) and the showdown. ding yuxi and ancy deng really brought their a-game to this drama, and i'm so impressed with both of their performances already. i need to rewatch these four episodes again before the next two episodes are released!

it's not as bad as some people make it seem lol.
sometimes the most loyal defenders of the patriarchy are the very women the system keeps in chains.
and on that note, male leads who are protective and kind to children are such green flags.
