true. but what i meant was, everyone zhao ling loved was there at his wedding except for his parents (who died when he was young) and yucheng (who died for zhao ling way too soon and never got to share in his glory.) but seeing zhao ling use yucheng's sword during his wedding day was as if yucheng was there in spirit. the symbolism was what got to me.

where did this reclused zhao came from? he just spawned out of nowhere
he didn't spawn out of nowhere. our leads met him when they were trying to hide from danger in that one abandoned place back in the earlier episodes. he was part of the emperor's salt investigation team (when the emperor was still a crown prince). he was the one always hanging out with general mo and always giving the emperor advice. except he had hair then, so maybe that is why he looks different to you now lol.

i just realized something about ep25...
that sword that zhao ling used was yucheng's.

zhao ling used it to break down the door. he used it to split the shotgun in half. that sword protected him and helped pave the way for his happiness... just like yucheng did many times before.

yucheng was there with him that day. 😭

he said he was going to give her the best wedding ever, and he kept his words. 😭
it was SO satisfyinggg. one of my highlights of today's eps! πŸ˜‚

our guy doesn't tolerate men who abuses women and he especially HATES those who disrespects or threatens tingyun and anyone tingyun loves. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Am i the only one who hasn't gotten bored from this drama ? 😭😭
for me, each episode is better than the last. i get frustrated with certain characters, but never disappointed by the direction of the story. such a beautifully captivating drama!

Also soooo glad mom got to go. She passes away before the wedding in the book
omg... πŸ₯Ή

in the drama, zhao ling said he didn't want tingyun or her mother to have a lifetime of regret. it was why he went out of his way to have her mother present for her big day.

hearing about the novel's version of the event makes the drama's version more beautiful and bittersweet. i'm really thankful the director made the changes. at least in one alternative universe, both mother and daughter were able to celebrate together. 😭

I hate Ting-Yun's father and the Yu familyπŸ˜€πŸ˜‘
same, i hate everyone except her mom and sister in law. i'm still on the fence about her brother. let's see if he'll enable his father or defend his mother...

LOL. i love grand secretary tian.

i vote to have a special episode dedicated to just him. it'll follow a day in his life, consisting of him falling asleep in court and running away, trying to sidestep the political drama and gossip.

the poor man just wants to retire. πŸ˜‚

People terrified of Madam Yu through the screen. I mean I can't blame them. Her aura is truly frightening.
a woman who is as captivating as she is terrifying. i love her, but only from afar lol.

i agree, perfect relationships are boring. there are no challenges, no growth.

or maybe i'm just toxic so i'm more drawn to messy characters. πŸ˜‚

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
meh. the miscommunication in ep21 is annoying, but understandable based on how they're both handling their feelings.
tingyun was the one who proposed to zhao ling first. she was the one who asked to get married in ganlin. it was zhao ling who kept delaying the wedding. he asked her to wait five years, and she did. then he ghosted her and claimed he had no fiancΓ©e when he made it back to the capital. sure, we know that he did it to protect her, but she didn't know that... because he didn't tell her. with how long they've been separated, of course she would feel insecure about where she stands in his life now.

as for zhao ling being dense about why tingyun's upset... this is the same woman he got on his knees in the rain for, killed for, and risked his life trying to be worthy of. he always saw her as confident, intelligent, and precious. someone too good for him. obviously, it wouldn't cross his mind that she of all people would ever doubt what she means to him. instead of just letting him know how she feels, she is being passive-aggressive, expecting him to read between the lines... of course our guy is lost lol.

both of their feelings are valid, they're just going about their issues wrong. and that makes them completely realistic. no relationship is perfect, and that's the beauty of watching a drama like this. we get to see how two individuals will learn to navigate the hardships of life and be better partners to the ones they love. hopefully, they will develop better communication skills in the process too.

funny enough, i don't like fan yake either, but i like her a lot more than i like yu jing xiu. i can't stand his face, and 2x speed through his scenes. that guy can rot in hell lol.
