Fantastic plot, shame about the rushed ending

I was enjoying this drama so much in the first half, all the stories within the palace was well thought out, fu Rou and chumo makes great leads. I feel like there was barely any scenes where chumo makes any attempt to help or save fu rou (which is fine cos our smart girl saves herself) but it just feels like he was barely in it in the second half, and had barely anythjng to do with her anymore despite him not being able to let her go and their misunderstanding lasted a lot longer than it should.

Worst of all, the last 8 episodes was a total mess, it was gripping but they cut out so many scenes some of it didn’t even make sense as to how it linked to the next scene, I also feel like a lot more was filmed about chumo and furou when they made up that they didn’t bother showing!
I feel like huanyu dramas has such a rep for doing this, it’s so annoying. I hope they release those deleted scenes

I watched it originally for Bai Lu after seeing her in legends and arsenal military academy but aso fell in love with Xing Zhaolin in the process, this CP has grewat chemistry throughout and moments that will make the butterflies go. I do think the story starts off slow with the main leads though, its more of a focus of the relationships of the supporting cast with the leads rather than it being completly their story. After episode 13 however its a lot better since the other actors story is done.

Bai Lu's character may seem aloof and a bit ditsy at first but when it came to love, she's brave and not afraid to be herself or say things that in most other dramas they wouldn't say because it might hurt the other persons feelings so i really like her character.

Xing Zhaolins character is a typical rich CEO as you would see in most dramas, he is stoic, considerate and cute, and totally unapologetic when it comes to getting his girl even if its his mates 'gf' - but i don't mind that in this instance because I wanted the main leads to come together.

Came to watch this as I loved Bai Lu and Xu Kai in military academy.

I loved Bai Lu's sassy character and Xu Kai's mysterious and devoted love for Zhaoyao, I don't think I've ever seen an onscreen couple with such good chemistry, I almost thought they're for real!

I hated that theres so much unnecesasry storylines with too many side characters, I pretty much skipped all of that and only wachted the 2 leads, and its still totally easy to follow, I'm after the romance and I think if they cut out 10 episodes of crap and just focused on the main characters it will be a lot better, maybe also use that money to invest in better CGI.

As everyone has already pointed out, not sure what went on in the last few episodes, but it was a complete mess, its almost as if the person piecing the clips togther got really confused, nothing made sense. It's a shame that it finished on such a low as the actors were great

Simple story but effective and great cinematography

I love me a chinese historical drama but I could never get into.many modern dramas. But the cinematography of this film is different to the usual dramas, just so well done (also good that theres no dubbing)

The story starts off as a simple, coming of age story but the unexpected twist makes it more watchable and engaging. I loved both actors and the characters they played. I thought characters like the fl can get irritating like lot of chinese school dramas but she really comes into her own, a little awkward because of the stir in the situation she caused but is still really likeable.

Wu lei is a fave, not much more to.say other than he plays a charismatic and general mice guys character which of course i loved

Lastly, the ost and the electronic tracks they used is just great
