Hey hey Moonies!!!!! Welcome to our 3rd anniversary rewatch! π₯³π₯³π₯³ (Can't believe it's 3 years already......…
Three years on, I am still awestruck by the first episode. In my book, it's still unparalleled. No pilot episode that I've ever watched makes my heart race, satisfies my aesthetic senses, and the succinct world-building that happened in less than 30 minutes.
I feel for Susu's grief at witnessing her whole world get destroyed, and understand that the Devil God ought to be destroyed... But just as the first tears fall---ChunTao appears quite hilariously (and serves as a narrative tool to deliver everything else we need to knowπ ) ---ahhh I think I'm still repeating same sentiments as beforeπ
Some new(?)thoughts tho: 1) in her original world, Susu never reached her goddess status, did she? Coz she might not have undergone tribulation that she had experienced in this life----ok, am confused now because technically....... she lived just one life, right? 2) DG 1.0 could have been the DG variant to get closest to what ADG had been. That original world is cooked. 3) What was Li Susu doing at the start of the ep tho? Just watching while the lights go out on that 3D map of theirs? π Instead of fighting or defending a sect? π
Anyway. PS. Liu Yuning's voice really is everywhere in cdramas, and that opening song really slaps on a good day, like this. π

Hey Moonies!!! We're still doing the anniversary rewatch, ryt??? π€£ Lemme just round up my school works and then we'll start cracking on the nostalgic dive into the masterpiece that is TTEOTMπ See you in April!
Just sharing... You know in The Unclouded Soul when Xiao Yao and Hong Ye played in the snow and making snowmen? . . . I couldn't watch that scene fully coz it brought me back to our TTJ and LSS's New Year sceneπππ LSS: There's no turning back, is there? TTJ: We've come this far. How am I supposed to turn back? πππ This is trauma, this is. πππ
Sigh. Just finished this drama and... gave me Fangs of Fortune trauma all over again. (Idk if it's just coz of…
I also watched for Wang Duo coz I liked him in The Blossoming Love. Bingzhu had a lot of promise though - as a love rival to HY, as an upright demon slayer who fights against his conscience of what if demons are also good?, as a second couple with Pianpian, and Tan'er as a bridge/CP promoterπ , as a good boy gone bad then good again - but I feel he was so underused and his plot thread kinda didn't tie together... His scenes also felt disjointed from HY and XY's storyline that unfortunately I skipped some of his scenesπ.
I loved the three ancient demons, as well as Xiao Mu and Xiao Ming (so devastated by the 3 and Xiao Mu's deaths, asking whyyy they had to go???). Dali's betrayal felt to me like it came out of nowhere, so I was much more annoyed at her and relieved instead of sad when she went. Heiwu was more of annoying amd caricature baddie too rather than a real threat. That deputy demon slayer of Bingzhu's is a real villain tho. And the emperor deserved a far more visual and worse death than being just offed in narration. Wu Huan's character development was a complete circle, but again, lacking in more depth.
