some thoughts (w spoilers): 1. really enjoyed the space-theme throughout the show! my fav theme was seungwon being an astroid, so cute when they bumped into each other!! 2. i wish heesu had confessed to seungwon in the dark classroom (before the festival). it felt like such an emotional, heavy scene to me and its a shame they didnt turn it into something bigger. 3. seungwon reminding jiyu that her confessing her feelings is different from him confessing to a guy felt very real, love that they included this!!
theres something really charming about this drama. yes it’s slow, yes it has (lots of) flaws, yes the chanyeong tennis subplot goes absolutely nowhere, but the good parts are just so great! heesu and seungwon are such lovable characters, heesu’s dynamic with his sisters is super fun and the seungwon/jiyu friendship is so wonderful to watch. def more of a coming of age/slice of life drama than a bl. still enjoyed watching this, makes me want to read the manhwa!

glad to hear you enjoyed love begins in the world of if, i was surprised by how much i enjoyed it. i was going to edit my comment and add old fashioned cupcake as a recommendation but you have watched it already :)
and thank you so so much for the additional recommendations! i'm super into japanese bls right now (after watching a bunch of korean ones), so i'll definitely check them out!!
the grooming not being addressed as such is crazy. don't even know how to rate this because the rest of the drama was really good. great chemistry and acting, definitely more slower paced (which i personally like).
Does anyone have suggestions for BL shows/movies that are all about making each other better and healing each…
we have similar taste based on this list! i feel like you'll enjoy Love Begins in the World of If (Japanese). short but very much worth watching. i watched i hear the sunspot because of your comment btw, so so good! :)
the definition of heartwarming. beautiful cinematography (soooo many stunning summer shots), amazing acting and very lovable characters. love love love!!!
i love the message behind this drama. as a fellow introverted office worker, this really hit close to home and made me think about my own issues at work. where's my ogami who will give me chocolates when i'm sad!
some parts felt a bit rushed because they only had 6 episodes to tell the whole story. i did enjoy the way it ended (the last episode is my fav!) but i wish they could've added 2-3 more episodes so the story could've been expanded a bit.
and in true j-bl fashion: the cinematography is gorgeous! also love the fact that there a few no/minimal cut scenes. highly recommend watching it!
wow wow WOW this was so good! cannot stop thinking about it since i finished it. such a good plot with great pacing and wonderful characters. moon jiyong (shin jaewoo) really shines in the emotional scenes. even though this brought me to tears multiple times, it has some really funny moments too. kang woojung has great comedic timing, loved watching him as joo hyungjin! this is for sure a show i'll rewatch - finished it last night and i kinda watch rewatch it right away :) 10/10!!!
the acting and script were... rough. but there was something about this drama that totally pulled me in! i enjoyed the plot (despite the plot holes) and chemistry (despite the awkward acting) and the cinematography was really stunning at times. i don't even understand why i loved this so much lol but i had a great time watching this!
i'm glad i watched my personal weatherman before starting this one, because it made me understand the dynamic between the leads better and that this is clearly a specific type of bl genre. this genre is not for me, and that's okay. still had a good time watching it; the cinematography is gorgeous (the cycling scene!), great pacing and takano akira/koyama kazuki is such a cutie.
had such a blast watching this! im usually not drawn to high school dramas/bls but this was SO good! great pacing, very lovable characters and strong acting (fujimoto kodai/hioki is great when it comes to comedic acting). sugary sweet and lighthearted, this jbl totally stole my heart!!!
this was... something. i'm honestly not sure what the problem was: the script, the acting, the pacing? i felt like the plot had potential but it ended up going nowhere. none of the characters or pairings were likable enough to make me root for them (... maybe except for doyun. BIG maybe). the acting was okay, i did really enjoy kim jungha's performance as juha.
and despite all of this, there was still something about this bl that made me finish it lol. maybe hangyeoms face card truly did save this show for me!
some of my fav scenes as a chronic rewatcher:1) the intimate scene (with cuts back to their first time… the…
ah you’ll love the rewatch! about the clocks, here’s an explanation because i explained it poorly in my previous comment: you’ll notice that in that scene, the time in juyeongs shot (9 am iirc) differs from the time in dohoe’s shot (8:10 am). the incident with dohoe’s dad happened around 8:10 am, so it portrays that dohoe is still “stuck” in the past. blew my mind when i realized it!!!
bumping up my rating from 9.5 to 10 after a rewatch. i appreciate the acting SO much more after this rewatch, esp after knowing all the twists and turns. love it!!!
you can tell they had 500 won and a dream but this was so FUN! the chemistry was great, i'm so glad they re-edited this to a horizontal version so more people (me!) can watch it.
