I get your frustration cuz same 😂 but honestly in the novel it’s not as frustrating as in the drama. The storyline is better and the action of ZW is very justifiable, and you can truly understand why LXX was badly hurt when she left him although he did everything he could to make her stay. This drama serves very unnecessary and forced conflict imo the storyline makes it seems like it’s just better for her to tell the truth rather than make her damsel in distress

I wonder why they didn’t follow the novel storyline because now it feels very anticlimatic for the “Ge” scene and the revelations that ZW is GX’s daughter. The revelation is just too early now. Apart from the badboy/playboy trope, I think they should ve just follow the novel. Though I do understand on why they make it like they both didnt go for Gaokao so that it will be legal age for them to be drinking. Anyway still hopeful that it will get better in the upcoming eps.

The main reason is because ZW agrees to distance herself as long as LXX’s dad makes her mother lose everything. And his granddad also asked her to not see him again to avoid backlash from others since their relationship is “impure”. Since ZW knows exactly how to hurt him, she called him”Ge” and disappeared.

Fast forward, they meet as adult. ZW was harassed by her boss and kicked out from her house and LXX asked her to live with him. And be his “company” in a sense using the same room/bed. Initially he wanted to take revenge but who are fooling now lol LXX loves her too much to even hurt her. To cut it short, both of the went to see his granddad and LXX said the agree ent between ZW and his granddad was not fair to him. And they started dating again and ZW proposed to him first in the end

I think it’s because she thought in the end LXX will be hurting the most if he helped her. In the novel, his granddad really cares about what other people would say if LXX stay together with ZW saying that they coudnt afford such disgrace because their relationship would be immoral to outsiders.

Agree, in the novel they’re so much in love that everyone knows about it. They both knew each other best since they’re being themselves when they’re together. ZW dont even need to say much to know what LXX is thinking and vice versa. That’s why when ZW wanted to break up with him, he cut her words quickly before it happened. This drama feels very one-sided so far. Not sure if it’s because editing or production or what. They shouldn’t changed the novel, just remove the “badboy” part imo

TRUEEE, I think a lot changes made it seems so anticlimatic. I feel like maybe they need to make it short for drama but it came out flat. And idk why but in the drama it’s hard to tell that Zhou Wan has a crush on LXX at the first place (before this mess) like in the novel where she really feels guilty to hurt LXX because she genuinely likes him and see him as a “standing tall” and “proud” LXX

Agree 100%. I really like ZW in the novel, she’s much more complex. In this drama, she’s bolder and they make it seems like she’s the one who chase LXX and whereas in the novel she just made the first move in the arcade with the “Wan” and LXX is the one who’s interested in her even after he had a hunch that she has her motives

for real, im tired of seeing people commented on how its weird because they’re “step siblings” when they are not, even their parents are not married to each other

They cut a lot from the school scene compared to novel, hopefully they’ll give more in later eps. A bit disappointed there’s no school forum in the drama cause that’s where all the gossips start

It’s not weird at all because it’s not like they were raised as siblings? the ML doesn’t even know she is his dad’s gf’s daughter in the first place. They’re literally just schoolmates. To me, SAL is even weirder than this because of how they were raised.

Aside from the ML and FL stories, I appreciate that all other side characters have their own growth and journeys that was well portrayed throughout the episodes including Cao Ping and his sister. For me, there’s no filler episodes. Though it’s not a fast pace drama, they didn’t drag an issue/plot for too long, everything is resolved within one or two eps. Definitely one of my top cdrama this year!
