[How FL captured Zuidie was poorly written, it's too easy. FL still able to hide an edict when she was drugged…
The excuse for keeping Sui die alive was poor as well. She had infiltrated the cangbei side? So? she killed their princess! She’s unlikely to be any use to contact anyone in cangbei. She’s a wanted criminal in cangbei.
Can’t deal with this one episode a day garbage. I was so proud of myself for not watching yesterday’s episodes immediately… 😭 I tell myself I’ll just skim it and then BOOM! I’ve watched an episode and I’m all caught up and I’m so sad.
if the divorce will really happen i will not continue to watch this drama. The Fl didn’t deserve everything,…
He believes everyone on Li Shan is alive and well. He thinks she is only unstable because she has had to come alone to Ding mansion, and letting her go back to Li Shan, which she says she misses, is not cruel to him. And she’s not exactly telling him how much she loves him when he confronts her, she agrees that her purpose in marrying him was out of remorse and guilt. The problem is that only she can explain how much of their marriage was out of love, or had any love, and how much was out of guilt for what her mother had done to them. But for plot purposes… she just doesn’t 🫠
I don’t understand why keeping Qin Cang alive assists the plot. In a few episodes we will see Ye Li reveal she has the edict that will show Prince Ding was innocent and Marquis Muyang was traitorous. In that case, any evidence that Qin Cang has on his dad becomes unimportant because he will be executed anyway?
I guess they defeat Marquis Muyang. Then from episode 30 onwards they have to fight the Cang Bei people who have allied with MoJingLi.
Lol, as soon as a 2fl joins all of a sudden people calling it too soapy, some people say theres not enough romance…
I love the leads in other dramas, but their romance isn’t as natural or sparky as I hoped it would be. There’s not a lot of lust, or tension - it could be down to her not being in the right mental state. She’s affectionate, but not passionate about him? If you get what I mean.
suzuidie is literally a typical green tea bitch character, sister in law pls open your eyes😭
Sister-in-law is such a pathetic person. You’d expect the wife of a general to be smarter, but I guess the point is that marriages were not exactly love matches in those days.
ML fighting like he's been training non-stop, instead of sitting in a wheelchair for 8 years was def a cdrama…
Ahahahaha. I, too, am ignoring that obvious lack of realism because… how much do we love Cheng Lei in his general era?! Yeah! The leap onto the platform to save Ye Li after 8 years being wheelchair bound was magical 😅
Did you see the little emperor try to hide his smile at seeing Prince Ding walking? I like the little emperor!
Can someone explain why Mo Xia Yao's hair will become gray colour in upcoming episodes?
It’s very trendy in today’s dramas to make hair go white to show the character has undergone shock or grief 😅 The worst one was when they just put a pure white wig on Dilraba in The Legend of Anle.
I still can’t work out if anything happened!!! 🤣🤣 Was it just kissing? Did they consummate the marriage?? TELL MEEEEE. I was starting intently at my screen as if an answer would appear, haha.
If ye li knows martial arts, why doesn’t she instinctively use it to save her life? She instinctively used it to catch the falling Wei qi pieces, but couldn’t to protect herself from her grandmother’s knife? Did someone mention she had maybe forgotten she knows martial arts?
Also, no disrespect to the old grandmother, but why on earth did she try to attack a woman in her 20s who can move faster and run faster than her, and is possible stronger? A bit unrealistic, but I love Bai Lu and Cheng Lei, so I will let it go. 😆
In eps 7 & 11 , it’s mentioned that Chen Yanyun was already married once for 2 years and is now widowed.…
You know what’s also gross now that I think about it? Fu Haitian and his wife. She says they’ve been married 20 years, but Chinese women in those days got married young, so she might only be in her late thirties, 40s at most and he’s 70!
I'm rewatching, and I cannot really get my head around the ending plot.
1. Why did they need to pretend CYY was dead? He was alone at the front lines, the Emperor and the ministers were moved to action when they got a letter from YeXian saying that the cities near the border were about to fall and all the men of Yan were outnumbered - why pretend he was dead?
2. Why did FL keep pretending she was going to kill herself, like it was any real leverage? None of us felt she would kill herself, everyone else said things like, she'd never kill herself (Even CYY when he heard she wasn't eating or sleeping when they fought, and when the noble ladies were spreading rumours about her and Wang Zan). And why would Minister Fu have despatched troops if she killed herself? They have no personal enmity! Just a professional tussle. I can't help but feel it was forced in to show that she was making a real contribution and sacrifice tor CYY. I think the trailers presented it like she helped him to victory by clearing the enemies with her life (at stake). Yes to having a competent FL, but she doesn't have to be at the forefront fighting all the made up plots!
3. At the end, when Minister Fu and CYY have confronted each other, there are no high stakes. CYY has a sword pointed at an old man. The servant is very slowly lighting the house on fire. We have seen CYY fight unarmed men - he just storms in and punches them. There was no way he couldn't have punched Minister Fu, grabbed the book, and saved them both from the fire.
I loved a lot of the parts of this series - the main leads were excellent! But yeah, some of the drama logic was not doing it for me.
I mean, obviously I hated the abrupt ending, but that's all it was, an abrupt ending.

They fix a lot of the issues in the drama. In the drama it is mentioned that he was married, but that it was arranged by his mother, and they presented themselves as married but were not in love. In this drama, he is also forced by his mother to grow up and assume family responsibilities young, and never had any interest in women - so he is not some gross experienced predator who is looking to groom a young girl - which it sounds like it was in the novel. And i got the feeling in the drama he was in his late 20s, early 30s rather than 40s/50s - but that's probably because of how Ci Sha looks and they made it ambiguous and most people would find 40s/20s love story gross.
Those costumes were exquisite. I’ve never seen such beautiful detailing and layering. (For example, the colours of the dresses in Are you the One, or Flourished Peony didn't draw my eye) I don’t think there are many series set in the Ming dynasty. I love the dresses FL wears, beautifully cut, and even though shapeless, incredibly elegant. On me they would look like a muumuu 🤣 but she looked like a doll. The hair was so pretty. And Ci Sha’s whipping outfit was gorgeous. Taking him out of stiff official attire was a good move.
Can I just say- to me this is the only drama couple where I'm not annoyed by their hugs. Because they look sincere…
You’d think hugging and kissing someone naturally is an important skill as an actor - after all, you’re selling a character. But alas, you’re right. It’s weird when most cdramas end with seeing the married couples, and they act like a cheeky peck on the cheek is thrilling and exciting for them 🤣🤣

But that sect stuff was so unnecessary! It didn’t add anything.
I am overlooking it all because enough of it was done well. Loved the 3 leads.
