I've read the manga before watch the drama so I must say I prefer the development in the manga. The drama has an ending though, as the manga suddenly stopped publish more chapters or at least haven't found them. But if you liked the drama go read the manga, you will feel so much sadder for the protagonists and you will love the side characters much more.
