You’re right, she’s selfish, like she sees herself as a victim when Mudan, while also coming from a bad situation is strong and decides to face things straight on with stoicism and subjectivity. Shengyi despite getting out of her bad marriage and starting a prosperous business with good honest people still saw her situation as a half empty cup and victimized herself. As the saying goes, you can’t help those that don’t want to be helped. Now Mudan gets the consequences of Shengyi’s actions

Yeah it’s not an excuse at all but I still understand how things turned out. Shengyi is weak and is easily swayed so that’s unfortunate for Mudan

She already saved herself too much in the drama, it had been shown to the audience and to Jiang that she’s resilient and self reliant. Here the problem is much bigger with authorities and influencial families, I think it makes perfect sense if Jiang saves her here. There’s nothing wrong if ML does a little saving, it makes it more realistic for a historical drama

Even though I empathize with Shengyi when it comes to the abuse of both her ex and family and her lack of confidence and independence.
It is very infuriating, poor Mu Dan doesn’t deserve what’s coming for her. I hope we’ll get a good saving scene from Jiang though. There’s no denying he loves her now, he normally won’t let anything bad happen to her

Yeah it could be that he doesn’t know it yet. I will continue watching and see how it develops, but for now I am not really convinced of his romantic interest towards her

Yeah I wonder how that will pan out too. The parents will get their long deserved karma. I think SML will stay alive due to plot armour lol, and he’ll be freed by his parents and his filiality chain at least, his next leash to complete freedom will be the princess. We’ll see how it goes!

I mean the main problem with Sheng yi is that she grew in an environment where men mistreat women, so for her that is her normal, she has no support or safe space to rely on so it’s hard for her to get out of this trap.
Her only out is Mu Dan, I hope she manages to find a HE for herself without harming the sisterhood
