i guess they wanted mandarin pronunciation to be clear enough for chinese-speaking audiences and free of accent, on the other hand FL french and english words were very accented 🤷🏼♂️

'portrayal' applies to fictional too - The events are fictional, but the 'Ming Empire' was real. It wouldn’t be fully fictional unless they gave it another name.
