I think you are exagerating calling this the best cgi you have ever seen. There are parts well done, but for example the vines traping the fox demon in ep 4 were VERY bad. And I think there were several dramas that at least did the animals as well as in this drama.
what I can agree is that in 6 months they could give it the cgi of a 12 month post production for most dramas.

I was talking about this the other day. This drama deserves a much better rating if we compare it to other dramas that have higher ratings on mdl. And it isn't just because the story or dialogues. The action scenes are very well done compared to other dramas.
So far I think there are 2 things that can hurt this drama. 1) the ml has a lot of traits that aren't likeable 2) the misunderstanding trope starts too early
so this drama replaces the last immortal and abay replaces this drama? I think it makes sense to release abay after this to make use of xu kai's heat after this drama.

I think the relation beteween "legend of the condor heroes" and "return of the condor heroes" is a good comparison.
Basically they are 2 dramas in the same universe where some characters from the prequels are elders in the sequel (like parents/grandparents).
And you don't need to watch the prequel to understand the sequel, but changing the names of the characters/places/important stuff between the 2 dramas annoys the audience that watches both dramas.
