heartfelt show

one of the better firefighting shows i have seen. love love both leads with great acting. i thought it would be weird or less chemistry between them since the show portrayed their relationship with a significant age gap, but it actually turns out ok.
i enjoyed JSC character development when he is at work and also when is in love. i can tell he is really passionate about his job and also a very honest & humble guy. XL is a good combination with a guy like JSC and the chase was although cliche but fluffy and cute. i can recommend this if u are into non toxic, cute romance with a good mix of firefighting elements kinda drama!

good firefighting scenes, anything else is meh

i watched this after A Date With the Future which was also another firefighting show as both are aired around the same period. i must say I have really high hopes for this as compared to the latter because of Yang Yang. but after watching this, it's really hard not to say that even the cast cant carry a bad plot/ character.

right from the start, i didn't liked song yan. his character was not likeable not even in his own team. the only thing that made him better was his bromance with suo jun (my fav character played by zhang bin bin but too bad he was just a small role - his story was very much more interesting than ML). although there are a few questionable scenes that made me doubt song yan as a best friend. for more than half the show, i barely seen song yan express any form of emotions, it is as though he is at the top of the world. him as a firefighter leader, hmmm very strict with the people, there's always scenes of him doing some stunts to which everyone else cannot do btr. him as a lover? almost bland. female lead was fiercely chasing male lead and confessing her love but doesnt really apologise & explain for what her/her family have done? i dont really feel any sadness/pity between their love story. ML was showing her a black face half the time/ if not rude and i lost track of when he started to realise he still likes FL(?). wang chu ran is ok as an actress but doesn't really bring out her role as a doctor. hardly any chemistry as pace of the show is quite strange.

plus point for this show would be the firefighting scenes are quite well done.. i would skip the romance. nothing too in depth on song yan's character development with other people too. it's a barely pass show for me.

typical love story

Almost nothing special about the show. Typical FL have a crush on ML when she was in school then met ML again etc. etc.

Female lead character is meh.. nothing out of the box. ZBB acting is good and nice to look at.. but character is also meh. I am not sure if Yu Shuxin's role here is supposed to be exaggerating but it seems very "loud". their chemistry is much better off screens as compared to the drama. Both of them also shine better in other drama.

However, this show is still very light and fluffy and have abit of humour elements in it. Both them also have a fair bit of lovey moments and development is also ok. Would still recommend to watch to kill time.

decent romance show, can give it a try

Wouldn't miss any drama with ZBB as the hot male lead. Although still played as the handsome and smart one, i find his role as Xu Yan Shi very likeable compared to other drama.

Pace of the show is pretty ok, not draggy and things get resolved quickly and move on. Female lead is also very refreshing. I love how male and female leads does not really play the "play hard to get" game.

Very good balance between work and romance (lots of lovey dovey scenes!!) Highly recommended if u are looking for something light hearted yet not too lame/brainless.

underwhelming romance development

I love both Zhao Lusi and Chen Zheyuan... also i am an absolute fan of fluffy love story but to be honest they would both have better chemistry if it was for a different drama. Saying that this show is overrated does not mean it sucks it just doesn't justify for the high ratings in my opinion (FYI my review is also just based on the drama not the novel).

Throughout the show I have a few ???? moments.

(1) I didn't liked how the FL is portrayed in the show.
The show started with FL when she was about 14 years old and she fell in love with ML who was 19 years. BUT the child actress does not look like 14 but 8-10. it looks strange and cringy. Why couldn't they cast a young girl that look more like her 14/15 (or atleast give ML a younger boy actor too).
Also, when FL grows up, she still speaks like a kid in a kiddy tone, the way she behaves is as though she is like 12?

(2) The romance
Throughout the show, their 5 years age gap is heavily emphasized all the time.. is it really such a big deal. I have watched so many drama with big age gaps but i didn't know 5 years is a lot to be a problem. They portray the male lead to be OLD like he is just 24?
I also didn't liked the development from bro/sis to lovers. ML's pov of how he fell in love was pretty sudden to me. In the show, there weren't any progress in how he fell in love but more like a one time and boom "i gonna woo you" the next day. Even ML confession didn't felt wow.

I guess u can dissect this drama into
1st part: FL's pov, her falling in love
2nd part: FL grew up (aka. went university) and met ML again
3rd part: ML fell in love and happy ending

Despite all these, the romance is quite sweet to watch after they got together.. but it's really not my cup of tea. I wouldn't rewatch this.

Good chemistry, non toxic romance

Watched mainly because of Ding Yuxi and was also keen to see Peng Xiao Ran again (as the only drama I watched with her was Goodbye my princess)! Plot was nothing special, both female and male leads are likable. Absolutely loved DYX and his puppy eyes, PXR also did well as the bubbly "Nie Sang Yun". I felt like everything was very well balanced in this show, in terms of the MAIN plot being the leads and their story and all the others like supporting characters' love line and also villian's scene weren't too much to watch. I usually dislike shows where the villians is everywhere like in your face and also those supporting characters story having too much screen time.. but this show is ok, we still get a lot of scenes from both leads!

However, i do take some points away as i find the ending abit rushed and it could also be better!! i start to FF a lot ep 32 or so onwards.. the villians are all punished in like half an episode. The reunion between both leads after a year was also not as dramatic as I thought it would since the ML thought FL died.

In conclusion, it's a watchable a fluffy show - good if u hate those shows with stupid leads/people. Does get abit draggy towards the end but about 2/3 of it was worth the watch!!

romance all the way

super excited to watch this show since the poster came out. love the casting of tan song yun and jing boran as the main leads. i really love romance show that shows a healthy relationship, no crazy drama and mature.. so to me this show really did well. the chemistry is a 10/10, with the cinematic all it's really a very sweet romance.

actually this show is not hard to understand at all. but all the flashbacks makes it very confusing sometimes, because they show the present time and flash back sometimes. there are a lot of flashbacks but nothing very impt to take note as to what really happened between them. development of the story is ok, but sometimes the timeline seems to jump abit for me and idk how long time have past or anything. for example, when did they have kids??? when was she pregnant??? when was her kid like 5 years old alr??? or like everytime luchen went off for work it felt like very long. this would be a really good show if it is shorter imo. still, love both leads!!! and jing boran looks super hot soooo why not

work drama, nothing special

If you have watched most of Tan Song Yun's show, her character here is very much like other shows - I wouldn't think it's a breakthrough or anything. I feel like this show is similar to Master of my own, in a sense where there is workplace romance, mature adults, slow paced and also no big drama or anything.

Show revolve around the main leads and their lives as pilot at Lu Zhou Airlines. I can't rate based on the technicality as to how real it was to real life aviation but the show does not really bore you and moves on fast. Don't expect the romance to be super fluffy kind or anything like that. There is abit of love triangle but nothing too much, romance between main leads only start towards the end of the show.

There are also some story on the supporting characters... which is boring to me.. didn't really enjoy the story on the female lead friend so i usually skip through it.

Recommend to watch if you're into work drama. Skip if you're not. The romance part got nothing much to offer. Both leads are pretty good but chemistry is quite meh.

Lee Je Hoon steals the show!

This show has been at the back of my head for the longest time. I knew I had to watch it when Taxi Driver S2 is out. This review came abit late but better be late than never!!

Plot is pretty straightforward and easy to follow. Basically a group of people that acts as vigilante to revenge for people under the name of a taxi company. Each story takes about 2 episodes or so, it's not draggy and all of them are interesting. The show cannot go wrong with Lee Je Hoon like this man is srsly so good whatever role he plays. In this show he also cosplays different character as an undercover work for each task, which was super fun to watch. I am in love with this man since Signal days, he rocked a lot of shows but he truly does the best in this kind of crime, thriller genre kind I feel. Also, do not expect romance as it's minimal to almost nothing. However, the bond between the members are amazing so it's still a good watch.

While there are good takeaways to this show, I do feel that some of their revenge tasks are too easy/conveniently resolved. Although there are thrill and excitement to it but it's temporary and predictable as to what is gonna happen.. which is why I said that it isn't complex to follow the show. Lee Je Hoon also plays an impt part in the success to this show in the role he play.. i couldn't imagine other actors that can do play the role of Kim Do Gi.

Still, I am very excited to finish watching Taxi Driver S2!! and if u haven't started this series, u should give it a go!!

Not feeling good about the male lead

Plot of this show is pretty good, pace was great, each character stood out on it's own. I am not the biggest fan of revenge shows but some of them can good. This show gives abit of the Itaewon Class vibes if you have watched.

However, out of all the characters in this show, I don't vibe with male lead the most. I have to say I am never into male leads that are arrogant just because they are good at one thing/ is deemed as super good-looking/ the fact that people have to "worship" him for nothing about the personality. While i did enjoyed Li Xun and Zhu Yun's love story, i didn't like how Li Xun treated other people (including Zhu Yun at times too!!). Ofcourse he was always the best at coding and have his own family issues (the so called perfect typical male lead with issues), however, he doesn't treat other people like his team mates or ZY's parents the best either. I wouldn't say he deserved the hate but i just think that how he was treated was an effect from his own attitude in the first place. His family issues should not an excuse for him to project it on other people.

One thing that kept me going was the female lead - one of the strongest and actually smart female lead I have seen in a long while. She never doubted Li Xun and always loved and supported him throughout the entire show. I would say for Li Xun, he wouldn't be able to grow as a person if not for Zhu Yun by his side/ he wouldn't be that bit of a likable person if not for Zhu Yun. While Zhu Yun always allow Li Xun to shine, he doesn't bring the best out of her in their relationship.
u can watch for the plot, romance is pretty cute and sweet, OSTs are good. I did enjoy the show but wouldn't rewatch it again. Ofcourse if you're the same as me where u are not into male leads like li xun character, then u dont have to worry about suffering from male lead syndrome.

do not skip!

Came late to this show but here is my review.

Complicated storyline to understand for a simple brain like mine. It's not just a simple time travelling show but a lot of things you wouldn't understand till the end. so please do not skip! You will have many questions while watching but it will only be answered towards the end, if you continue watching. While this is a romance and friendship show between the 3 main leads, there is also an important part where they find the "killer", which brings to a lot of mystery and investigation. I find myself being immersed in each of their character and development that the sadness only kicks in towards the last 2 episodes or so.

The plot is brilliant and even if u are not into romance and sad love story, there are a lot more takeaways from this show. However, this kind of show is also something I wouldn't watch again because it will never feel the same anymore.

Cute and fluffy romance story

Long story short: A fictional character written by female lead came to life and they fell in love.

I have always been a fan of Shen Yue's romcom drama. Her chemistry with co-actor was always great and ofcourse with Chen Zhe Yuan was no doubt too. Watching this show is like watching a cute teenage romance drama. Plot was nothing out of the world or anything that will draw you in more, everything was pretty predictable and i liked that although it was a pretty straightforward show, there isn't any draggyness. Acting by both was decent as well.

Overall, i would recommend if u are looking for something lighthearted, cute and good visuals.

family drama that shows blood is thicker than water

This is a good family drama that should be set as a benchmark. I came here mainly for the casts but ended up to find myself emotionally attached to the Qiao siblings. First of all, the casts of this show is top notch - i believe one that watched enough chinese dramas will atleast know Bai Yu and Bai Xiao Tong. To put them together with Wan Yi, Song Zu Er, & Yi Ran the chemistry is amazing. The show started off when they are young when Qi Qi their youngest brother was born till all of them have grown up. The pace and development is great. Each of the Qiao sibling's character shine in their own way & although it makes me frustrated and upset at times, but when they come together it just seems like they got each other's back & everything can be resolved.

Qiao Yi Cheng, the eldest brother - the person that held the greatest responsibility in the family since young because of their useless father. QYC is a character that came off as someone with low self esteem, yet also putting a lot of pressure on himself. What i felt throughout the show was that he didn't share he feelings even to his siblings because he felt like as the big brother he should behave a certain way. I particularly liked his r/s with Ye Xiao Lang his first wife, their conversation with each other is very realistic, and although they seem compatible at some point, it eventually shows that QYC is not as ambitious as YXL and maybe his siblings is something he cannot put down in life. I rooted for him a lot in this show hoping things will go well for him because his life just seem very tiring.

Then we have Er Qiang, the truest to himself out of all Qiao family. Very quiet and reserved guy but will fight for what he wants. He does seem more "lost" in life, but he treats people with a lot of care and respect. I am happy that he never doubted his choices despite the whole world telling him otherwise, which eventually proves that he made the right decision.

To the sisters, I love San Li so much. She is very understanding and polite and seems to be know what is the right thing to do and say. I adore her r/s with Yi Ding & i rooted them throughout the whole show. I love how she shows a different side to her when she was in a r/s and married, a more 'defiant' side that she never shown. Yi Ding and her characters just seems to blend well together. And we have, Si Mei that vainest off all but her only saving grace is that she love her brothers and sisters a lot. Very brave in everything she does. Had a love-hate r/s with her actually, but she eventually grew on me. Also, to the others that made an impact but appear lesser, e.g. Qiqi, Wei Min, the aunt, all of them form a great bond together.

In all, this is a good family drama that is worth watching.. and the script writing is something that is worth paying attention to.

second time watching

Rewatched this for the second time and is here to give a proper review. In case you only watched this recently, we don't know when Deng Lun (ML) will appear on screen again.. what more another xianxia drama.

First off, I really liked Yang Zi and Deng Lun as both their acting was good & they have good chemistry together. Although this show was in 2018, i never felt like their acting was amateur here. To me, Xu Feng was the main stealer for this entire show. His character developed well throughout the show from how he met Jin Mi, fell in love to a love-hate relationship. A lot people didn't like Xu Feng because they think that he was manipulative and is not empathetic towards Run Yi. But his character is not built to be perfect - his parents are evil but he still chose to protect them at some point, also i don't find that his love towards Jin Mi was manipulative. When they both went down to mortal/human realm, i think that Jin Mi at that point of time still doesn't know what is love (even though XF died with her). She could be touched and thinks that she wants to "repay" XF in that sense when they got to immortal realm. It was not forced by XF as to how JM falls in love with him. The true moment she realized that she actually love XF was when she killed him, that it hurts for much he is gone. That is also why i hated the fact that my fav moments in this whole show, when they were lovey dovey was actually not true love YET. I also didn't liked that moon immortal was there to heavily ship the main couple (JM and XF). Moon immortal was very bias towards XF to the point that i forgot RY was also one of his nephew.

This aside, the reason why I rated this high was because the storyline was interesting although frustrating at times. I didn't like JM's character here because she was too easily persuaded/swayed by people around her. She is also not smart and needed to be saved most of the time. It isn't a solid character in my opinion. Even the evil people in this show was more bearable than JM at some points. On the other hand, i really liked XF both when he is phoenix and demon lord. His love for JM was also very sweet and heart breaking. I could totally feel a different aura when he was phoenix vs. demon lord. Run Yi was another character that was worth watching in this show - he is the antagonist but a very pitiful one. People argued that his love for JM is no less than XF but now that I rewatched i can't find the point when he actually falls in love with JM.. for sure JM i is interesting/cute/funny to him at first sight but there weren't much interactions between them afterwards for him to be obsessed with her. Instead, i do felt that he became competitive and "love" JM when he knows XF love her, which happened early in the show. We cannot deny that although XF is not the best brother to RY, RY does not have 100% pure intentions towards XF/JM either. However, as much as I cannot get his love for JM, i think that his pov and story towards his family was worth giving credit for.

Overall, i think this show not for the impatience people as it has a whooping number of 63 episodes. The romance will make u either love it or hate it. If you cannot stand those shows with heavy misunderstandings, you probably won't enjoy it. However, i still think it's a good show overall because you get to enjoy a lot more than the main couple's story. Romance between main leads might be slow burn but it's that kind will make u satisfied at the very end (u just have to bear with it). With Yang Zi and Deng Lun's acting + visuals + chemistry, this show is easily a >5 for me.

selfless love

So much emotions now that I finished it. Cried till 3am and the ending didn't save me from any of these. I am going to write my review while my memory is still fresh.

ACTING/CAST:
Cannot say enough that both Yang Zi and Cheng Yi are the best actress and actor out there for xianxia drama and no one can top them. I came from the famous Ashes of Love and Love & Redemption, and I am so happy they get to act in this together. They didn't disappoint me in their chemistry! 11/10! As for acting, there is nothing more i need to say as both of them are amazing and they make you believe they are really in love with each other.

STORYLINE:
The plot for this show is almost like all the other xianxia drama mashed up into one. If u have watched enough xianxia, you would have seen the cannot fall in love, lost of memory, unforbidden love and saving each other from dying cliche plot. Well.. this show had all these plot and it's almost predictable. I would say it doesn't have the unique selling point in the storyline but the characters are the main stealer for this show. I am however sad that the main leads didn't have enough lovey dovey moments together where both of them admit they are in love. It's always one of them pushing the other away. Tang Zhou was someone I cannot let go after the whole show ends - he fell in love with Yan Dan but doesn't understand why she hated him for Ying Yuan's love debts. He is seriously innocent. My heart cannot be in peace for this, Anyway, more on characters below..

CHARACTERS:
Cheng Yi brought all his characters to life in this show. He played 3 characters - Ying Yuan, Tang Zhou and Xuan Ye. All of them have been done super well by Cheng Yi (i swear his eyes can speak). Ying Yuan as the emperor needs to protect 3 realms and cannot confess his love for Yan Dan. He can only protect her silently but thats how he lost her because she doesn't know and is hurt deeply. Ying Yuan from what I see has great responsibility in him and no matter how much he love Yan Dan, it's ultimately the realms he cannot put down. Moving on to Tang Zhou, one of my favourite moments in the entire show. Tang Zhou unlike Ying Yuan is determined when it comes to love. As much as he still cannot fall in love, he admits that he cannot lose Yan Dan and is willing to give up everything. He is also very goofy and doesn't act like any superior when he is with Yan Dan. Things get serious when he became from Tang Zhou to Ying Yuan again - that's when he realise he is TZ and also YY and he fearlessly declares his love for YD. I love the character development from YY to TZ and YY again. All 3 felt different and has different emotions.

Yan Dan played by Yang Zi is smart and grew up a lot in this show. She once cannot understand Ying Yuan and thought that he only cares about the 3 realms but she ultimately saw how not protecting the 3 realms will ruin everything. From start till the end, she already chose love. As long as Ying Yuan survives, she will do anything, even losing her own life. She is very selfless and puts Ying Yuan before herself anytime, She knew she always loved him and has long ago forgiven him. Honestly, Yan Dan has a few really good and memorable lines. One of them i remembered clearly was, actually love does not need to be together and its ok. Thats when I realised she grew up so much, because her happy ending was not to be with Ying Yuan anymore but to see him fulfil what he needs to do.. that's also how the famous line of "you protect the realms and I protect you" came. I love her character development. Yang Zi did super well in this.

Ray Chang as Yu Mo is one of the BEST 2nd male lead ever. If there is an award, pls give it to him. I believe everyone will agree. We all need a Yu Mo in our life. He love Yan Dan but has never crossed the line before. Never told her how he feels, never tried to steal her away, never did anything dirty. He protects Yan Dan and is never less compared to ML in this sense. When he said his only wish is for Yan Dan to be safe and happy, i literally cried out. I want happiness for Yu Mo,

MUSIC;
Amazing 10/10. It's on repeat on my playlist now. Zhang Jie always sings good OST!!

OVERALL:
Thanks YZ and CY for accompanying me this mid-end year & also all the casts! I don't know when I will ever see a Yang Zi + Cheng Yi collab again, but i really wish any producers out there can make it happen. This show is highly recommended but there are also some flaws in the cutting and plot (not big issue if u ignore). Would still rewatch it again!!!!
