I’m not sold on their relationship

I love a good friend’s to lovers story, and this one had a lot of potential. *Spoilers Ahead* Junxi and Tuo have been best friends for 10 years. Apparently Tuo has had feelings for Junxi, while Junxi has not thought about him that way. Tuo makes several moves and Junxi is not into it. Tuo asks him to consider it and that’s where I feel like it went downhill. We had a great premise to watch Junxi slowly realize his feelings for Tuo. For Tuo to respect Junxi’s wishes and be patient. For both of them to grow as a person.

Instead I feel like Junxi was pushed into the relationship because it’s what his friends (especially Tuo) wanted, Even when the show ended, I still felt like Junxi wasn’t that into it. It’s a shame because it could have been great.

A positive note: The actor that plays Tuo was great at the steamy scenes.

Drama with Disturbing Tones

I thought I would really like this drama considering I liked My Stubborn and TharnType. However, this one was too problematic for me

Let’s start with the first couple, Rain & Payu. It seems like they went with the innocent = naive & dumb trope for Rain, but they took it was too far. I couldn’t stand his character. A rock would have more brains than he had. Then there’s Payu. His character was more tolerable, and the man playing him is so handsome (Boss). That being said, the power dynamic he established was disturbing. He constantly punished Rain if he didn’t act exactly the way he wanted him too. Said he had to “teach him manners.” There’s one part where he spanks Rain and then tosses him onto the ground. He constantly makes Rain say things like “Rain is begging Payu to stop”. Why are you acting like his dad Payu? Rain is an adult. It gave me the ick.

The second couple: Sky & PraPai. They were easier for me to watch than the first couple. I like how patient and supportive PraPai could be of Sky. Sky also set boundaries. They felt much more equal to me. Yet, there was still some disturbing topics around them. PraPai stalked Sky and tricked people into giving him access to his phone number and dorm. Also, let’s not forget they met because PraPai told him the only way he was allowed to leave the race was to go to bed with him. Basically Sky put it down so well that PraPai became obsessed.

The NC scenes were pretty decent. And I think the actors tried with what they had. But this script was just not for me.

A Messy Disappointment

Let me start out by saying I heard great things about this drama and was excited to watch it. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations at all.

By the end of the show, I didn’t like any of the characters. I have no problem with them being morally grey, but honestly almost everyone in this drama is a terrible person.

Chi Cheng starts the show by stealing his friend’s man and then ordering a group of men to SA him. Then he meets Wu Suowei and suddenly becomes a soft boy, with the exception of personal boundaries. This man told Wu Suowei’s best friend, the Doctor,, that he would SA him if he didn’t trick Wu Suowei into giving it up! WTH?! I would dump a mofo so fast if he said that to my best friend. So their first encounter was forced by Chi Cheng. Then when poor Wu Suowei is sore the next day, Chi Cheng proceeds to laugh at him. You hurt him and that’s funny to you?! Subsequently after that, there are plenty more scenes where Chi Cheng carries him (WS) off while he’s yelling for help and resisting. Gross.

I found Wu Suowei to be annoying. Why did he never address the problems they were having? How about “hey I saw your ex boyfriend get in your car and leave with you, and then you didn’t come home all night”. Or “I caught you making out with your ex in the yard”.. He witnesses all this terrible behavior and then never addresses it! He just gets sad. And the constant fake crying was on my last nerve.

I started out liking the Doctor but then he started heavily manipulating Wu Suowei for his own selfish reasons. To be fair, Wu Suowei did pay him back for some of that.

Yue Yue, apparently the only dateable woman in their world, is a pretty but incredibly annoying gold digger with no redeemable qualities. I can understand why Wu Suowei liked her (he’s annoying as well) but Chi Cheng? I feel like he wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes dealing with her fake act. And you’re telling me he put up with her on a trip for 5 days straight? Nah homie, I don’t believe that.

Guo was the one character I somewhat liked. To me, he was a much better boyfriend than Chi Cheng. I like that he got revenge on the man that hurt the Doctor. And he bakes beautiful cakes!

I feel like the story line lost the plot. What happened to the snakes? Where did Yue Yue go? Why did so many of the characters completely change personality?

Random thoughts: I’m fully convinced there was something going on between Guo and Chi Cheng. I saw those videos. Those were not friend vibes.

Does anyone else think the couples should have been Guo & Chi Cheng and Wu Suowei & the Doctor? I get the whole “opposites attract” but I feel like those pairings would be a lot healthier for everyone involved.

I rated this a 3, because there were moments of good chemistry and acting. However, I couldn’t bring myself to root for this couple.

Great premise but misses the mark

The premise of this show was promising - our main leads start as a casual hookup that progresses into something real. The problem is the lack of chemistry between the two of them. The actor playing Kaji looked so bored during their NC scenes I was waiting for him to start snoring. Yet we’re supposed to believe this is the best hookup of his life.. These dramas really need to start doing chemistry tests as part of casting.

Also the episodes were so short it didn’t lead to much character development.

Some of the good things:

-I liked the actor playing Fukami, he was super cute .
-Fukami’s sister was wonderful and supportive
-Kaji does grow into a better person (still don’t like his character)
-Both character had vulnerable moments, it wasn’t just one character doing all the chasing.

It wasn’t all bad, there were definitely cute moments, but the dead kisses and lack of tension are why I rated it as low as I did.

Started out promising and went downhill from there

Where do I start with this. Honestly the first episode was good! One of our main characters, Ki Ha Neul, wakes up and realizes he has amnesia. He has no recollection of the past 10 years. The guy he remembers as his rival/sometimes friend in high school (our other main lead, Yeo Sae Byeok), is claiming to be his long term boyfriend.

However, it just goes downhill from here. It’s a convoluted plot of flashbacks. There are too many storylines happening at once. I will say the NC scenes are really good. Which, considering the rest of the drama is a hot mess, is surprising.

And for my final rant, Yeo Sae Byeok is a horrible person and should have ended up alone! *SPOILERS AHEAD* This man (Sae Byeok) kept his stalkers threatening letters hidden away and never told anyone. This results in his Dad being killed (protecting his sons boyfriend). So then his boyfriend, Ki Ha Neul, feels extremely guilty and blames himself for the Dads death. Later on, Ki Ha Neul gets run over, not once, but TWICE, because of this stalker. Ruining his lifelong dream of playing tennis.

And this was all caused because Yeo Sae Byeok didn’t want to go the police? Was he too lazy? It was never explained.

OH OH AND LETS NOT FORGET, in high school Sae Byeok stole Ki Ha Neuls girlfriend away because he was jealous. God Forbid that man have anything good in his life.

I would have been much happier if Ki Ha Neul ended up with the guy that ran him over with the car. At least he felt guilty and tried to redeem himself.

The Chemistry and Steamy Scenes Sold Me

Let me start out by putting myself on blast, I love a naughty and detailed NC scene. It doesn’t have to be p’0rn, but I think the adults should act like adults. And boy does this drama deliver.

Our ML’s are P’Sorn and Jun. P’Sorn is intimidating, introverted and serious. He’s a good looking man who constantly has both men and women throwing themselves at him, which he takes full advantage of. There’s nothing innocent about him.

Jun is younger, outgoing and a happy and sweet person. He’s inexperienced in the bedroom, which ends up making him the perfect target for P’Sorn. Sorn convinces him that he’s so terrible at kissing that he needs lessons, provided by him of course. Jun agrees, and they become friends with benefits.

The electricity between the 2 characters is palpable and the scenes between them are HAWT. I like how Jun becomes a tease as he gets more comfortable with his abilities.

It doesn’t take long for the characters to start experiencing jealousy and unresolved feelings. I won’t ruin anything but it’s fun to see how their “friendship” plays out.

This drama won’t win any serious awards, but it had my full attention. Highly rewatch able and recommended!

Started out strong then went off the rails

This drama started out so interesting. You have a strong, emotionally closed off Jeonghan, who takes control - including spicy scenes. Then you have the sweet, submissive Iljo, who slowly starts to win over Jeonghan with his constant acts of service. I truly enjoyed the first 4 episodes. If the storyline would have stayed that way, it would have gotten a 10.

However, around episode 5 it suddenly nosedives into a convoluted plot of family backstabbing and miscommunication between the characters. It feels like a completely different show. Did they change writers? Also, the characters seem to switch personalities. Suddenly our strong take-charge Jeonghan is depressed and crying all the time while Iljo is closed off and doesn’t seem that interested in their relationship anymore. I feel like all the effort came from Jeonghan in the last 3 episodes.

The soundtrack is actually really good, I gave it an extra point for that.
