He arranged the coup so he can be labelled as rebellious and executed (He claimed that without being killed he can't let her go). He also found out the corruption of his supported ministers and made them agree to this marriage under sword. So, when the coup began and the officials are being slayed, he let the crown princess to be their saviors, and made them indebted towards her. Crown Princess also realized this later.

I don't like the fact that they made the ML invisible in the last 3 episodes. ML had a minimal to none presence in those episodes, similar to "Ashes to Crown". They could also make his comeback more detailed than the very vague explanation of 2-3 dialogues.

Great chemistry, great plot, great execution... But

You can see him back for a brief moment in the last episode. But the extra episode shows more of their (ML, FL and baby emperor) story.

OMG... the background music, Karma, is absolutely perfect for Le Jun's final scene. It reflects the idea that she was finally paying for her past (her karma), while the desperate, sorrowful melody made the moment even more heartbreaking. I know she had to face the consequences of her actions, but seeing her die in her brother's arms, with nothing more than the wish to go home, was devastating. That scene hit me so hard that the first thing I did after finishing the show was look up this OST.

About Episode 27, Li Le Jun and the background music...

"Sunsets Secrets Regrets" -- ML and FL got married early (within first 1-2 episodes). ML loved her from the beginning and FL started to fall for him slowly. At one point, ML tried to breakup (divorce) with her, but FL refused to do this. This got solved quickly (in 1-2 episode). The main focus of the drama is solving the case, romance is secondary, but you can sense ML's obsession towards FL at each episode.

FL had a crush on 2ML and 2 ML also had something for FL. But because of inferiority complexity and cowardice, he missed on her. Once ML came into picture, he immediately got out of the equation. So, to me, its not a triangle at all.
