I know nothing about the anime or manga so i can’t compare but as a stand-alone, the drama is pretty enjoyable. It’s fun and over-the-top and that’s what makes it entertaining. I would compare it to a Toku show, which is fitting considering the amount of actors in this drama that starred in Toku shows before
How many of the manga volumes does the drama cover? I want to read it first.
I’ve read the manga up to vol 3 and the drama doesn’t really follow the order of the manga. Since the manga is more like a compilation of slice-of-life stories and the only main plot going on is Meguru’s road to debut (which is also the drama’s main driven plot in the 2nd half). The drama took a lot of of artistic liberty to make the story a bit more fitting for a drama. For example, the drama follows Wako and Meguru’s first reunion since high school until they form a relationship, meanwhile in the manga, they have been together for several years. So in conclusion, the drama doesn’t really ‘cover’ volumes of the manga but more like taking the basic premise of the story to build their own storytelling
how is the romance ? there any kisses ( probably no, ML seems really young back then and its jdrama.. )
The main couple has a lot of cute fluff scenes with about 2-3 kiss scenes but since this drama is about not following gender stereotypes so the romance feels different from the usual romance in other dramas. The 2nd lead couple is more like the usual drama trope of ‘will-they-won’t-they’ and very entertaining
This drama is such a mood booster it's so fluffy and cute but also tackles important social topics, but done in a heartwarming way and still maintain the light tone of the show. Yoshikwa Ai's acting is so natural, she manage to be comically dramatic when needs to while still have realistic expressions in emotional scenes. Itagaki Rihito is a delight and absolutely jump straight out from the mange, I can't imagine anyone else playing the role. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for a light and fun drama but also with substances and meaningful messages
