I actually originally caught onto it over a month ago because of Rio's wording in the first trailer, but it wasn't until two weeks ago where I actually fully caught on. I wouldn't have found it odd if she referred to a non-Japanese guy as her "boyfriend" (said in English,) but because the (alleged) boyfriend was Japanese, it just felt kind of off to me. There had to be a double-meaning with it—especially when it was also explicitly written in the trailers as either "好きになったのは、姉のボーイフレンド" or "家庭教師は姉ちゃんのボーイフレンド" and not once did Rio or the trailer use 彼氏/彼. Likewise, Sota never referred to anyone as 彼女 or even 恋人. This, to me, meant that the choice of words were absolutely intentional, and not just randomly chosen. This misunderstanding only works because the audience relies on Natsuki's understanding of "boyfriend" to be correct, so I was frantically looking for any crumbs that Rio and Sota were actually dating, as they really just seemed like close friends to me. It became even more obvious in the two spin-off episodes focusing on Sota where he not once hinted at actually dating Rio, and he instead basically said that he wouldn't feel lonely even if he wasn't dating anyone. That sure is an odd thing to say if you're actively in a relationship, and I know a few people here caught onto it, but because they believed Natsuki's interpretation to be correct, they didn't think much further on it.
I don't think I have personally ever heard of "boyfriend" being popular slang in Japanese culture to use on your romantic partner, but what do I know? I really thought I was just reading too much into it and therefore never said much about it, except for one random reply two weeks ago, though I myself have been absolutely convinced since then.
8/10 if we ignore the last 5 mins. The CGI/AI sunset was when i literally threw my phone away. the ending could've been a lil more realistic? a scene where chaeha and taeseon watches Song haneul, oh jayeon and tak seong get arrested instead of the totally out of character proposal scene would've been an instant 9.5/10 (not a 10 because well I've seen better) plus some things are just totally bizarre in the last 2 episodes like chaeha leaving his phone at his house when gyun ho called him, tak getting into chaehas house without getting noticed, no closure on gyun ho's involvement etc and c'mon the handcuff kink? was it that necessary??😭😭
overall i did enjoy it a lot but for most part of the last episodes i was like 🤨 or 😦.

Ngl, I got tonal whiplash from the trailer. There is a lot of switching between serious drama and typical Thai romcom. I wish they knew that they can do mm romance within a serious genre framework without having to resort to clichés. Still, I’m happy we are getting more diverse concepts now.

This is from the editing team for ticket to heaven on the trailer and why it was on the more lighter side: "In the first draft of the trailer, before the OST was finished, it was much heavier and gloomier than this. But when we sat down and watched it, it felt like we were repeating the same old path. Then, after hearing the song, we realized the thing still missing was ‘a smile.’ So we decided to focus on the inner struggle, and the question of whether, for the sake of that smile, walking this path is truly the right thing to do. The difficult thing about this #TicketToHeaven trailer was that the pilot itself was already so outstanding and powerful that it became one of the best works we’ve ever done. So instead of trying to replace it, we chose to tell the story in a different direction and mood, following the OST, which carries a brighter, more hopeful feeling. We wanted this to become a new beautiful memory that could exist alongside the original." so from what I understood of it, the pain and sadness and turmoil from the pilot will be present in the actual show they just didn't want to do a repeat of it for the official trailer. So they decided to do something more hopeful in order to show that there is a reason tanrak is conflicted when barth makes him so happy. Not saying that you can't see how angsty it will be just from this trailer, because you can but people did point out how much more hopeful it seemed, and I guess the editing team wanted to explain. It would also make sense since they didn't delete the pilot trailer when normally they would've after the official comes out. The OST is now out as well, and its beautiful!
Bambi came back with a lot of trauma , entered Prim's life and tried to win her back and was a menace to anyone who tried to get close to Prim . Prim was adamant on not getting back together , but after hearing about Bambi's past decided to give in. After an argument Bambi decides to go back to her old self and hook up with the first girl she saw at the bar and Sasha tried to sort the situation out . Then after Bambi's meltdown , Prim tried to prioritise Bambi as she wanted to be there for her during her weak moment. Apparently Prim taking a leave for a week was such a bad thing that it totally derailed her life. Only for Bambi to say "I choose myself" lol . Prim trying to always save the relationship and being the one to apologise, the writers could have actually given her a bit of agency in this relationship. Can guarantee that once some other girl tries to flirt with Prim , Bambi will forget all the BS she talked about like they are never going to workout and go and terrorise the other girl.
I was already not a fan of their previous projects because I don’t think Yim and Tutor are particularly strong actors, and a lot of their work also suffers from pretty weak writing.
And unfortunately, it’s the same issue here again. The dialogue feels super artificial, a lot of it comes across like bad fanfiction instead of real conversations, and the cheating scene at the beginning was honestly kind of funny to me.
The dialogue in general was just… uff. Rough to watch. Like genuinely hard to sit through.
I don’t even think it’s meant to be super emotional, but I still couldn’t take it seriously. Especially this whole “buff dangerous bad boy” vibe for Yim’s character… sorry, but I’m just not buying it. With all respect, if a character is written like that, the casting should actually match it.
And honestly, for me it comes down to chemistry. I can overlook a weaker script or even not-so-strong acting if the chemistry is there, especially in a BL. But if that’s missing too, then there’s just nothing really pulling it together.
And overall: I don’t see characters, I see actors trying to play characters. It never feels like the characters actually exist.
