a light and short yet entertaining watch - definitely recommended!

From the beginning to the end, I watched this with zero expectations. I started Ghost Yankee solely because I saw Haru as the main character and I was looking forward to see him in a new role; needless to say, I'm glad I listened to myself because this was the best choice I made in the last few days.

The story takes place in 5 episodes, which may seem very short, but I personally think not all stories need 10 or more episodes to allow their characters to be fully fleshed out. I believe this is a good example as the story was clear, engaging and had some closure despite the limited time it was given; what's more, despite the themes it tackles it doesn't grow too heavy on the viewer and is an enjoyable experience as a whole. It might also be because Togeru is quite relatable to me as a character, so I felt seen in his initial struggle and the way he evolved as a character.

In terms of the cast, the choices were great. I knew Haru and Haruse from their respective groups (the latter was rather funny in his role, I'll say) but the same couldn't be said about the others, so I didn't have any real expectation; I will definitely check out their other works once I can, because I really liked them here (especially the actors for the Wanpaku-dan members). I wouldn't say there were any extraordinary efforts for the music overall, but it fit perfectly within the context of the show itself and the opening theme is still very catchy despite that.

Overall, this was very enjoyable. It was a short but very fun time and I will definitely rewatch it when I'm feeling down again.
