I think blaming Khem for everything going wrong is a bit unfair. He didn’t ask to be born cursed, and it’s not selfish to want to survive. Anyone in his place would cling to any chance of living past twenty. Saying the village suffers because he exists is basically blaming a victim for the curse they’re trapped in. Imagine living your whole life under a death sentence—you’d also be desperate for help. That’s not Khem being manipulative—that’s just him trying not to die. His character might be frustrating and I agree that asking for help when it risks other lives is flawed, but that’s also what makes Khem more real. He’s not a perfect victim, but he is still a victim. He didn’t create the curse, he was born into it. It’s easy to call him selfish from the outside, but if your own life was on a countdown, you’d probably make desperate choices too. Wanting to live isn’t a crime. At the end of the day, Khem doesn’t have to be flawless to deserve saving. His story isn’t about being a saint—it’s about being human under impossible circumstances.

Sure, asking Master to break his promise might look selfish, but imagine living nearly two decades under constant fear and torment. You really can’t fault someone for begging for help. At the end of the day, this is Khemjira. The story is about him. Without Khem’s desperation, mistakes, and stubbornness, there wouldn’t even be a plot to follow.

I see what you mean about finding romance weak in some shows—I’ve felt that too when it feels unnecessary or forced. But for Khemjira, I don’t really agree. This story is literally about Khem, his curse, his struggles, and yes, his love life too. The romance isn’t just there for decoration—it’s tied to who he is and how he survives. Without it, the story wouldn’t feel complete, because his relationships are part of what drives him and shapes his choices. So while I get how you might find the horror or village aspect stronger, for me the romance is actually a central piece of Khemjira’s journey.

I’m genuinely curious about this. Not just this BL, but KBLs in general don’t seem to have repeating actors. Is that because of backlash, or do actors usually debut in BL to gain recognition and then move on to ‘straight’ dramas? There are so many talented BL actors I’d love to see in other projects. I’m not talking about fixed couples like in THAIBL, but more about individual actors appearing in different BL dramas.

okay thank you for responding~ I did notice how he doesn’t compare khemjira to khemika in 4th ep but when they showed that scene in prev ep where he saw khemjira and was reminded of khemika holding his hand and asking for help, that made me ponder.

yeah and i wonder if this will ever come up in the show where khemjira feels like the affection is only a result of familiarity and not out of love. I wonder if they will explore this dynamics later. Maybe a novel reader can enlighten me on this.

So when peem says he isn't pawat and khemjira isn't khemika, the past is past... does that mean in future he loves khemjira for who is and not just because he was khemika? In an ep where khemjira holds peem's hand he is reminded of khemika, is that the only reason he has soft spot for khemjira? will that make any difference? does he only love khemjira because he was her and will that make his love for khemjira any less important?

and does khemjira start liking peem because he is pawat? (he kept calling him wat after getting the jist of their lore) i might be losing it lol

hey I won’t be hating on you. I love this show, everything about this show has me hooked but i can also understand that this might not be your cup of tea. I also have not liked many shows that were popular. It just depends on person and their taste. I used to watch many romance kdramas before, now I can’t even watch one even when they are so popular. Maybe because im past that stage of my life or i prefer smth else. So its not wrong of you to not like hyped shows and it also doesn’t mean that they are bad.
