The pacing of this drama feels so off sometimes. Like, where did all of the character development go, Luke? I loved Tao Tao for voicing her thoughts so well, but how did we even get here?? Wasn't she horrible with it just last episode? And Luke was a lot better just last episode; what happened?? You can really tell they cut out like 8 episodes. I cried a lot during this episode. Yuan's death literally broke me, and they portrayed it so well. My heart aches for both Tao and Sun Yun. Luke pissed me off; it's one thing to be jealous, but he took it too far. Love Flora for standing her ground. With only 4 episodes left, they are definitely going to rush it.
I feel like they start to adapt too many webtoons instead of original scripts and the writing quality has seriously…
I also feel like these scripts don't have anything to say anymore. It's the same core idea of finding yourself, and chasing your dreams, and loving yourself. I miss when each drama had a message to convey, like something meaningful to put out into world.
I hate when I'm watching a drama, and I can tell it had a very good core script, but was then watered down to fit the tropes of the industry just to increase viewership. I swear K-dramas have lost the heart that used to make them so enjoyable; the need to deliver a good story is no longer the standard. Now, it's the same unnecessary tropes to fulfill this imaginary expectation, like a 3rd-act breakup when it isn't necessary, or relationship problems for an otherwise healthy couple, or making a character act the polar opposite of their personality to check an invisible box (case in point: moving to Paris). It's really disheartening, and I'm getting tired.

Yes, but 'now' is 4 years into their relationship. At no point in this timeline has she or her actions expressed that she wanted to go in that direction. I'm not saying she can't want that, but she has been so distant with Luke throughout their relationship, from not wanting to be public to not telling him anything about her personal life (Dony, the dating app, the whole apartment thing when she got hit). She has always, at least from both my and Luke's precepective, regraded him as her boss WAY before her boyfriend. And you just don't do that and expect him to have a ring in a box waiting so this can continue but now with legal papers. She can take this leap of faith, she can want this and tell him that she wants this, but it is very unreasonable to think that he has been waiting at her feet like a desperate puppy, ready to snatch her up to wifey level, especially with the kind of person he is.
I don't even know what to say anymore. How can 2 people be THIS bad at communication? I think for Luke, his initial reactions for everything in this episode except for the dating app thing were understandable, up until they both DIDN'T TALK ABOUT IT. One, ONE, simple conversation could have resolved almost everything. Flora is very easily influenced by other people's lives and opinions. Like this girl didn't give a damn about their relationship status until she saw her bestie married. She wouldn't even TELL anyone that they were dating, and forbade him from doing the same —which I get— but to turn around and expect him to propose that very instant was ridiculous. The same person who can't have a vulnerable conversation with her bf wants to jump into an intertwined life with him??? I am not attacking Flora; Luke went a little too far, and was a a little too immature about her actions. I am not denying that, at ALL. However, I kinda understand his POV. At NO point of this entire relationship did Flora make it known that she was thinking in that direction. In fact, her non-responsive and emotionally distant behaviour hinted, even to me, that this was pretty casual. I've said this before, but their biggest problem is that they are not able to be vulnerable to each other, which is why they find it difficult to talk things out, and put up walls and use hurtful actions and words to protect themselves, which leads them to be unable to understand each other. Had they actually known the other person properly, then Luke would have known Flora values her friendships very highly, and would have had a better understanding of her friends, and wouldn't have gotten as jealous, and wouldn't have had a problem with the dating app, the male roommate, or the ex (that one was pretty valid tho). And Flora would have understood his mentality better, and would have known that he didn't actually mean that he never thought of their future, just that he was hurt by the distance she had ALWAYS kept, so he didn't think they were ready to go further in their relationship.
I really don't see everyone's issue with both these characters. Why do we constantly start labeling them as 'red flag' and 'green flag' every single time they make a decision or choose to act a certain way, then switch up the next second when they do something different? Humans often make irrational, emotional, and conflicting choices all the time, shaped by circumstances and previous experiences, good or bad. If everyone were perfect, then relationships—and by extension, life— would be bland and unnecessary. You live, and you learn, which, clearly, these characters are doing. The most important thing is ownership of mistakes and growth, which, again, these characters are doing. It is refreshing to see how each person's personality and worldview impact their words, actions, and decisions, and how they work with each other to morph into better people. I am a little tired of seeing the same tropes again and again, where everyone has life and relationships figured out, making them predictable and unrealistic. I do not hate tropes. I love the predictability most of the time, but I can appreciate and applaud when things go off script. I truly don't understand why everyone is so pressed when they act like real people, just this ONE TIME. Right now, I think both Flora and Luke's issue is that they cannot be fully vulnerable to each other, which is why there is such a big gap in their communication and a lack of complete trust, especially on Flora's end. I am also a little worried about how they will be able to properly flesh out the breakup arc, the aftermath, and the resolution in just 7 episodes. Crossing my fingers that they don't rush it.
I am actually loving THISSSS. I love how gradually Luke developed into a better person and boyfriend. I also don't mind how he acts in recent episodes, and yes, I am talking about him opposing her dog conversation; that's just how he is, and Flora is used to it(and actually really likes it). I love green flag men, but sometimes, seeing the same overly green flag guys gets tiring, because they end up feeling really one-dimensional. It gets so unrealistic, like no normal human acts like this. It really is refreshing to see someone with a personality (and growth!!!!).
I surprisingly really liked this episode. Both of them TALKED (a great feat, ik), and Luke apologized (thank god). It's interesting to see how he's slowly caring for her more, and how that mixes with his aggressive(???) and cold personality. A great comeback from yesterday's episode (watch them ruin it tmrw). I also loved that we got to see more of the flatmates storyline.
