I don’t understand why this is too low. It deserves a higher rating. I started watching this because of Hou Ming Hao but completely fell in love with Shanbao!! Her character is so refreshing . She doesn't need physical combat to dominate and her power comes from pure intellect, absolute confidence, and outmaneuvering everyone around her. Many dramas mistake "smart" or "strong" for ruthlessness, making their heroines cross ethical lines or stoop to petty revenge just to win. Shanbao doesn't do that. Her brilliance lies in her composure!! she stays calm under pressure, reads everyone's moves like an open book, and traps her opponents using their own greed or schemes against them. It’s so satisfying to watch because she's always playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers, all while keeping her integrity intact. And Lu Jianglai is a formidable, sharp witted equal who can match Shanbao.
Some people are claiming she was bragging about having pro-Japanese ancestors, but they completely misunderstood the situation. She obviously isn't proud of that history she genuinely didn't know. She simply wanted to share that her family has a background in medicine. Now that she knows the truth, SHE IS DEEPLY SORRY FOR HER INITIAL IGNORANCE regarding her ancestors' wrongdoings. But is she at fault? Is it her actions? NO
Tbh, it has been a century. Are people really trying to condemn a great-granddaughter just because???
By that logic, maybe we should start hating all of Japan and its people simply because they are descendants of those who waged war against multiple nations. Such blatant hypocrisy.
i like this but ill be talking about the other part of the story. the villains origin was a nice touch but i wished…
imagine the pain knowing the person you cherished for 14(?) years, and tortured physically and emotionally is your biological son that you’re looking for. I understand why he kept it to himself because it would torture tae ha more.
i like this but ill be talking about the other part of the story. the villains origin was a nice touch but i wished it was more utilized. it was like “this happened, moving on…” it has a potential for a tear jerker because I feel sorry for BSG. He only pushed his baby away because his work is dangerous and he doesn’t have someone to warm his heart. he had some hope too bad it was cut short. 8/10
at some point I got tired of their set up but I understand why FL is cold and on latter episodes ( 20+) she’s slowly falling for our Crown Prince. The chemistry is really good and interesting side characters !!! I I can’t wait to watch Ep 27
In POJ toward the end of the drama you can see her hair sorted of without bangs.
I didn't notice that. And I saw the poster for Where The Mask Ends and noticed her bangs are parted on both sides so that’s going to be new to me. Can’t wait to see her again!
Started off strong with episode 1, but episode 2 was a struggle I had to skip some scenes. Especially at the end of ep 2 when you have a character on the phone who can hear a literal life-or-death struggle on the other end and their only reaction is to repeat 'Are you okay?' like a broken record, my interest just snaps. If the series relies on characters ignoring basic situational awareness, I'm out.
i watched this without expectations and it was really good. It has funny unhinged moments like them fighting with random people or things (iykyk) and there are some serious moments too. currently on episode 27 and I find it boring now. I think this is Lou Ren’s arc it was okay at first like ep 26 was okay but i find Leopard scene so off… the english dubbing and back to mandarin (?) . if im going to rate it all rn it would be 7.5/10 . I have to skip a lot of parts in this episode because its very “western” archetype villain. she’s just strong and crazy but not scary or thrilling like the others. it was not interesting on my end but others may like this not just for me.
im curious why he never go to Keep Running? I want to watch him there because I saw Hi6 and it looks like he’s enjoying hi time there so I think he would love Keep Running
I complain a lot when watching but with this one I’m just watching happily. They don’t overdo things that make me want to quit. The phone call past midnight is understandable tbh because it’s for the plot and it was not too much. I absolutely hate dramatic shows and I know there’s a point where they will show us that he/she suffered blablabla but I’ll see this to the end.
