I will start of by saying this is one of the best drama I have watch in a long time, sure there was some minor plot holes that other people have mention in there reviews (like how an abandon building isn't covered in graffiti and still has clues left behind), but it wasn't enough to destroy the strong story.

For both the leads, I think this is their strongest role yet, even the minor characters who are forgettable in the beginning but turn out to be a main player in the story. I have yet to see such a strong cast from the leads to the support, in most cases, some dramas have strong lead but very weak support character that kind of ruin the entire show. I was also surprised at how Kim Dong Jun acted, at first I was sketchy mainly because most idol actor are just there to improved the rating and most time the idol actor/actress are just pretty to look at but very bad at acting. ( I won't name names but Master's Sun had an idol actor that, to me, might as well have been edited out cause it was so bad)

The music was not overpowering and complemented well with the story line, but it wasn't something I would search up to listen to again.

I don't particularly like re-watching dramas, however because I liked the drama so much I wouldn't mind re-watching it again with other people.

I think I would have given the story 10/10 instead of 9.5/10 if they had shown Han Moo Gan alive again (*SPOILER ALERT* because Black cease to exist in people's memories and so it changed how Ha Ram was borned, but shouldn't also affect the real Han Moo Gan because then he wouldn't go back to Korea to search the truth) I also would have like to see who Ha Ram was married to and what happened to Leo after he died and how Oh Man Soo ended up. But I guess if they did that, they would need more episodes, so I guess I'll just leave it to my imagination.

BTW, not to be rude but during the last two episodes Go Ah Ra gained a lot of weight. She still looked very cute but it kind of made me realize that I was watching a TV show probably filmed over weeks and months. Not that it was bad, but I was so in the zone while I was watching and then she showed up looking very different than how she was one scene ago.

I decided to watch Goblin after many of my friends recommended it to me, to say the least i was disappointed.

The story was full of plot holes, and in a conversation I had, no one could explain the plot holes, and said I should just enjoy it for what it is. But how am I suppose to enjoy a drama that could have explain everything in 3 episodes but dragged out?
This is a drama that stirs up my intellect more than anything else.

The music for this drama was kind of blah, with all the hype, I thought they would have more than 1 piece I like. For majority dramas I watch, the music would be so good that I would replay the parts with the music I like, but for this drama I only like 1 song they had, and it wasn't good enough for a replay

The main couple were awkward and boring, maybe for people who likes extremely slow dramas. The chemistry between them is a little and awkward, like a woman falling in love with a stalker because she has psychological problems which hasn't been solved, and will love anyone who gives them any kind of attention. Or like a man who needs a needy woman to feel better about himself. Within a few episodes in, I could already predict the majority of the story line for the main couple.
Overall, their relationship can be summarize by a daughter-father relationship with romance.

The only redeeming thing about this drama is the supporting characters, they had a lot more chemistry, and their story line is more interesting with unpredictable outcome.

I would never re-watch this drama for the main couple, maybe for the side couple but probably not.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch this, but if someone really wants to, than skip the parts with the main couple, their relationship is really repetitive and can be explain by a girl having a daddy problem, while the man having relationship problems with women.

The most disappointing drama i watch in 2017, way over hyped. I think people who enjoy this probably just enjoy watching a dramatic fantasy romance and not like me, who tend to overthink and find plot holes.

I would just like to start off with that this show is really fair. For people who are not familiar with the chinese market, they think its unfair because Mei Qi and Xuan Yi already debuted, but everyone in the show has debuted somehow. It's dumb for people to just assume stuff without researching, Mei Qi and Xuan Yi is more well known to Americans, because they debuted in Korea, and Americans simply know more about Korean Idols than they do Chinese Idols. Most of the competitors are idols, ex-idols, or idols on hiatus cause their member are more popular so they have more schedules. Some idols, (shown in behind the scene, I can't find any eng sub) have debuted 8 years ago during the show. Other competitors are famous for their commercials and some are models or dancers. There's this one competitor who got really famous because her cover got viral online in China. And there are some trainees, but they're going to debut either way, the company is just using this show to boost their popularity before they debut.

SO I want to say this show is filled with famous people, just because you don't know someone, doesn't mean they're not famous in China. A lot of girls in the show are actually more famous than Mei Qi and Xuan Yi, they just aren't well known in America because their information isn't in english online.

Personally this is my favorite idol competition show, because the first place winner actually won with pure talent, in my opinion. She's one of the contestant no one thought would be 1st because she isn't very well known but she's very talented hence why she ended in 1st place. I saw other shows like this where I feel like the 1st place winner are purely 1st place because of their company, their looks, or they were the most popular before the show even begin.

I highly recommend people to watch and ignore people who said this show isn't fair, cause they don't do their research and just want to spread their ignorance ***. -_-

This is one of the best crime dramas I've seen so far, the characters steadily grows and gets more likable each episode, except for the last few episodes where the main girl character got annoying, however her annoying-ness actually make sense in the story line and made the drama better. There were one or two plot holes I found however the plot hole made the ending to the drama better than the direction I thought it was going.

The music matched a drama very well, it created anticipation throughout the story and didn't overshadow the entire scene.

I think they couldn't cast better actors/actress to make the drama better.

I would totally re-watch the drama and would definitely recommend it to other people, but only to people who enjoy dramas with thriller and very little romance.

It's okay

I didn't know what to expect when I first started watching however I wasn't too disappointed . ML acting was on point but the FML acting was predictable as it's really similar to all her previous character on shows I watch. Same crying face all the time, cry, put hand in forehead, cry, cover face with both hands, just predictable and slightly disappointed in her acting. Although I thought ML acting was on point, his character is just boring, naïve, innocence boy who got a sense of justice and bravery because of a girl. Their chemistry was strange, weak, and cry but not too unpleasant. Also the FL often bend her duties as a historian to fit her objective but refuse to see the outcome of her action, time and time again she is saved by her colleagues, but later says " I won't be able to respect you as my senior" because one of the historian took his job seriously and refuses to bend in order to match what she considers justice.

My favorite character were definitely the side characters, Officer Min Woo Won, Crown Prince Yi Jin, and Song Sa Hee were infinitely more interesting to watch than the mains. they had strong convictions and went after them, they have strong sense of moral and justice considering who their parents are, however unlike the mains, they know that their actions have consequence and prepare for them, They don't have this unrealistic point of view of the world and understand the benefits and the negatives coming from rich families. Crown Prince Yi Jin and Song Sa Hee had better chemistry than the mains even though their relationship was barely showed. The FML had better chemistry with Officer Min Woo Won than she did with the ML.

Even Min Ik Pyung was a better character than the mains. He was interesting to watch, his ideal world was different than the previous King and went to create a place were his ideals were formed. He often gave the King really realistic advice and often for the better for the country not just himself. He wasn't the kindest person on the show but I have to really respect for he did what he thought was the best for the country.

Over all it was a good show but a lot of fillers in my opinion. the show could have been 6 episodes shorter and it wouldn't change the story.

If people ask me if this show is a must watch than no. It's not one of the better dramas but if you want a easy watch than I say go ahead.

I recently just rewatched this drama, and I would say for certain this drama is 10/10. I rarely give 10 to dramas because I find that there are always something that could have been better, but not with Chief Kim.

Story: Perfection, there's no way to better it in my opinion.
Acting/Cast: I couldn't think of anyone who could have played these roles better.
Music: So perfect. The music enhance the drama without ruining it as I find often in other dramas. Sometime in dramas, I find that the music completely ruin the drama, by being to loud or giving away the plot. (Like based on music, you could tell something bad/sad/happy.. is GOING to happen, and I hate that, I don't watch dramas to listen to the music to know the plot, I watch dramas for watching it)
Rewatch Value: Often times I just give a drama a rating that matches my overall, because I don't want it to affect the overall because I generally don't rewatch. I find for most dramas, rewatching could actually ruin a drama, because you could find a fault that you didn't realize the first time. But Chief Kim is definitely 10/10, because I rewatched it, and still considered this drama 10/10.

If you are watching this drama, thinking it has romance, you are clearly in the wrong place. Each character has some chemistry with one or more other characters, I think it was done perfectly on purpose, so the audience could ship whoever they want and is not limited by the actual drama. For example for one scene you would think "Oh, are they going to end up together?" but it is so subtle and done multiple times throughout the drama with multiple characters, so you can't exactly pinpoint who's going to end up together.

This drama is very realistic, I don't know how to explain it but it's like there's no conspiracy for every character.

A little bit of a spoiler but not really... Chief Kim actually stays pretty much the same in that he doesn't believe in stealing from people who have less than you. I read a review about how they think Chief Kim got better morally, but I don't think that's the case. Chief Kim always believe in stealing from the rich and never from the poor.
SPOILER ALERT: In the beginning he taught people how to steal from their boss, and near the end he was still teaching some people how to steal from their boss, but warn them not to steal from people who worked below them.

Some people could have finished the drama, and think it's morally wrong, but to each their own.

I love the story about the crime however I dislike the romantic part with the two main characters. They had no chemistry together and just watching them seem forced, it's like the original script didn't have the romantic story line about them, but some higher management said the ratings would be better with romance, so they just added romance out of no where for the two main characters. There was also romance for the supporting characters in the beginning but it seems as the main character started to have "feelings" for each other, the romance for the supporting was push aside.

I think the casting would have perfect if the main girl cast wasn't so angry in the beginning, I thought she should have played a more empathetic woman in the beginning instead of a hostile one. I think the script made a better sense if she played an more empathetic person, however the way she played seems to that the character just didn't want any fault to be hers, even though in the drama she supposedly played a very kind, hard working, and compassionate person, it didn't seem like it in the beginning.

The music was nice it accompanied the drama nicely, but not to memorable.

I would watch it again, but think the ending was really open, it had one of the most open ended ending ever that I was slightly disappointed, and I would not recommend the drama to people who dislike open endings.

It's good but after rewatching...

I want to start of with that I would have originally given it a 9 as there are some awkward moments in the show but overall a very good show, however I rewatched part of it with my mom and things just started to not make sense.

1. Si Teng and Qin Fang went back to visit An Man before she died, they spend 1 day traveling there, 1 day there, and another day to travel back to the village, for a total of 3 days. That means for the 1 day they spent there, An Man died, got a grave stone and held a "funeral" for her all in 1 day.

2. Si Teng absorbed Chisan's power and not once besides healing Qin Fang did she use Chisan's power or anyones' power she absorbed besides her own.

3. Throughout the show they tried to hint that Bai Jin is smarter and stronger than the rest of the Xuan sect, but nothing was known about him besides us knowing that he is slightly stronger, his part in the show is so awkward that I wonder what was the point to his character, only to find out he's also the director, ahh so he just wanted himself in the show...

4. I watched the ending with the 30 episodes, cause I don't like sad endings, we were introduced to 2 new characters that we're suppose to just know, perhaps I would have known more if I watched the other ending. Si Teng is the foster/adopted daughter of one of the new character and she came back early (to human form) to tell Qin Fang that she loves him, but because she came early she's dying soon because she can't fully heal, so Qin Fang gives her his power that he got from Bai Ying, umm Si Teng maybe don't come back cause one you would have to die.

5. The happy ending made absolutely no sense, from the 4th, Qin Fang gives Si Teng his power, so he is suppose to die except he didn't cause main character plot armor nothing else, sure it took ~20 years but Si Teng is almost immortal and Qin Fang didn't age a day, so they could still spend time together.

6. The weirdest thing is when Qin Fang was hanging out with the kid Si Teng, who is now named Xi Xi. We were given the imagery of him hanging out/flirting with the adult Si Teng but the entire time Si Teng was still in the kid form, her being an adult is an imagery of what would have happen if Si Teng was an adult but she wasn't. So the entire time, he was creeping on a kid, Really gross, just because she's like an immortal doesn't make it any less weird. and why couldn't Si Teng come back as an adult version to tell Qin Fang that she loves him?

7. Qin Fang really falls in love fast huh? First Chen Wan, then An Man, but still having Chen Wan's photo, and then Si Teng while knowing something bad might have happen to An Man, this guy, I swear if he didn't have main character plot armor, he would been scammed out of all his money and belonging, falls in love fast and fast to hand out money. Really wished there was someone like Qin Fang near me, I would have live as a gold digger and not even because I wanted to but because her would have just offered.

The music is disturbingly bad, you know when somethings about to happen cause they played the same song every time, and anything slightly lovey-dovey coming cause it's another same song throughout the entirety of the show.

The wardrobes were amazing, especially Si Teng. Most of scenes were gorgeous and few were obviously CGI. DON'T rewatch. I did and now hate the show, 7 might be too high in my mind after writing this review.

its good

Its a really good how like what the other reviews are saying but some of the story line is just plain weird. Like how tf would someone climb up when they see something they're scared of right above their head. If something was scary above or in front of you the logical thing would be to duck down.

The acting on the first episode was pretty cringe but definitely got better as the episodes went on.

If I could rate the production or the sound affects (whatever its called) of the show, it would be 3 stars out of 10. The sound of them walking is like nails on a chalkboard (not as bad, but still annoying), the sound affect of them walking(sometimes) is so loud, it would sometime be louder than the actors talking. Some of the voice over were so clearly edited in, and some of the characters' mouth wouldn't be in sync with the mouth. And the pitch of the ml changed over the show. It went from pretty deep to really deep and back to pretty deep.

Show overall good
Acting 9.5/10 the first episode was pretty bad, I would have stopped watching if I didn't read the reviews.
Story 7/10 pretty good, but some parts were badly written, like how the ml's mother died.
Rewatch Value 8/10 I rewatched some of the parts already, and pretty good because insect stuff.
Production 3/10 not that bad but the sound affects and the voiced over is so annoying that it would be all I could focus on for a while after.
Overall 7/10 It would have been better if not for the production because the acting was on point, besides the first episode, and really easy rewatch.

Didn't pay attention to the music but it didn't overpower the show

This might be the worst drama I've ever watch. I tried watching the drama twice and both times I can't seem to pass the annoyance of the first episode.

From the first episode, there was plot holes left and right....... Basically the girl is loud and outspoken, and assumes that she's always right and whatnot. The boy, who became the CEO and the landlord of the girl's house, is a coward who just lets the girl yell at him, because the girl assumes she is always right. That made no sense whatsoever to the boy's characteristic, the scene before he was telling his employees he will fire anyone who's having office romance in his company, and threatened a worker that if he propose to another girl than he can look for another job. The next scene the main character girl is yelling at him, and he basically says nothing, then compares his company to a country, the girl disagreed and started arguing with him again...PLOTHOLES...if the main character guy was as cold as the actor portray him in the scene before, he would have fired that girl already. Doesn't make any sense to allow the girl continue yelling at him.
This is just one of the many plotholes I found within the first episode.
Another one...
Girl: I saw him in my house today telling me he's the new landlord and now I see him in my workplace, he must be a
stalker, even though I know there will be a new boss TODAY, cause there's no such thing as coincidence
Me(watching): &(@^$%%&@*$ &^$(@&$^ @)($*@9$& *$&%*#

I'm not sure if the reason that I hate this drama is due to the bad script or bad acting, but in order to have an enjoyable drama, you need both, and this drama might have neither.
BTW I understand chinese but I still turned on english sub because I can't read chinese (and I need sub in order to take in anything). SO I will say this (base on the subs on netflix), the subs do not translate how f@cc*** dumb the way the main character girl speaks and from where I dropped the show the main character boy barely talked.

FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, THE FISH WAS THE BEST PART OF THE DRAMA, JUST BECAUSE IT WAS CUTE AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE BETTER.
