After episode 7: The best episode so far. The three moms are great characters and excellent actresses. ("You old hag." "I'd like to drop you down a well." lol) The scene of Futoshi and his mom dealing with the "rumor" was exquisite. That actress is especially good. Yumeno's journey has turned out to be the most interesting of all. Best supporting actor goes to Futoshi's dad's photograph in the shrine.
I disagree with the "straight women wanting to see gay men suffer". They got their happy ending though the journey…
More lameness and desperate insults. Oh, and even EMOJIS! That means you are...able to use emojis. Awesome! Boy, did you ever toast me. You killed it, Lana Vajana!
I disagree with the "straight women wanting to see gay men suffer". They got their happy ending though the journey…
"Too bad ur became thirsty, angry and triggered."
oooh...how original. Lame MDL commenter tactic #5: When unable to rationally dispute an opposing opinion or mockery of one's use of cliche responses like "this isn't your cup of tea," accuse the writer of being overly emotional and out of control.
Cuts no ice with me, "Lana." Your screen name indicates you are female, likely straight fujoshi, who thrills to the sights and sounds of irrational, neurotic, self-inflicted suffering between and among gay men. Of course you adore this show.
My favorite kinds of dramas, gay or straight, contain loads of angst, suffering, sorrow, neuroses, anger, even violence and death if it legitimately serves a coherent, well-plotted story, and the actions of the characters make sense in the context of their experiences within their fictional world. The middle four episodes of this show are incoherent, poorly plotted, and do not make sense given what the audience knows of and about them.
That doesn't bother you because their pain is your g-spot. You don't care how sloppily the writer pleasures you, as long as you are serviced well and attain release. lol This BL is a fujoshi's dream: Gay men acting irrationally and hurting each other with ferocious abandon. I'm happy for you that you enjoyed it.
it seemed to me at first when DoHoe returned from outer space after 12 years, that he had been in a romantic/sexual…
Did you ignore the 12 years BEFORE Dohoe "rejected" him, only after returning to town and when SJY was standing right there with them? What happened during those 12 years? Nothing? Please. That's partly why it's so obvious this was written by yet another straight woman/fujoshi who writes convoluted fantasies about gay men that have next to nothing to do with reality.
I have already said more than once I don't KNOW that they had a prior romantic/physical relationship during those 12 years, but if they didn't, why was DH hanging around with him all the time? He knew the dude was in love with him. And we're to believe the handsome attorney who could pretty much have any gay man he wanted, wasted 12 years of his life mooning over a man every single day, right there within arm's reach, who refused to reciprocate his affections or desire? Why? What was so attractive and irresistible about DH that would make throwing away 12 years worthwhile?
I disagree with the "straight women wanting to see gay men suffer". They got their happy ending though the journey…
"It's simply that this isn't your cup of tea." This is the standard, lame MDL response to criticism of any series. Nothing is any better produced, directed, or acted than anything else, right? If a show has major problems, then it's just "not your cup of tea," right.
Well, what if, as in this case, I loved the first two episodes, the four middle episodes were a mess, and then I loved half of 7 and all of 8? Does that mean it's my "cup of tea," or is it my "half-full cup of tea" or what?
"...the story has some flaws but overall it was pretty good." is not a resoundingly positive summary of this show, is it? Sounds like you tea cup was half-full too. It's OK to say so, and to get specific about those flaws. That's how we grow our perspectives as audience members.
Well I guess I am hetero- and homophonic then since I seem to enjoy tragic love stories, no matter which sexual…
The last two episodes are where it finally gets good again, as it was in the first two episodes, which had me hooked. It's the middle four that had me going wtf? Of course, there are and should be all sorts of movies in every genre imaginable, but that doesn't mean it's rude or mean or something to watch with a critical eye and express one's perspective on where a film or series went off the rails. This one went off and came back on again. The final episode is one of the sweetest, yet believable and not fluffy, BL finales I've seen.
Can someone explain this plot in Fortnite terms? Like wtf is going on. Why did he leave, what the hell is lawyer…
Exactly. That's a great list of unanswered questions. I think you're supposed to make up the fujoshi-friendly answers in your head and pretend they were on the screen and in the plot.
It's crucial to note that the writer/director of this show, a straight woman, is also the writer of the most fucked-up, emotional torture porn BL ever made, To My Star 2.
Every where i go i see people praising this drama alot about how masterpiece it is and honestly when i watched…
It's gay-men-are-sadists-and-masochists-and-I-love-watching-them-suffer porn for homophobic fujoshis. That said, I actually enjoyed much of the first two episodes, and the last part of 7 and all of 8. I'm now a big fan of Lee Seon, who is as talented an actor as he is interestingly gorgeous to look at.
it seemed to me at first when DoHoe returned from outer space after 12 years, that he had been in a romantic/sexual…
What a clueless comment, coming from someone posting in a BL page thread. Why on Earth do my opinions piss you off? Because they vary from yours? Oh well, that too, is common on MDL.
OHHHHHHHHH...OK. NOW I understand why this series includes such sadomasochistic behaviors from all three main characters:
The writer AND director of Taekwondo, Hwang Da Seul, a straight woman (naturally), also directed To My Star 2, the most sadomasochistic/depression/mental illness-porn BL of all time!
As an insightful friend of mine wrote regarding TMS2, "There is, I think, something fundamentally homophobic about straight women wanting to see gay men suffer, and loving these "damaged goods..."
Now...all this said, I thoroughly enjoyed this show's first two episodes, as the MC was getting to know each other and before people started running away in all directions, disappearing for a decade with no explanation, not communicating simple, vital information and instead choosing to conceal it, guaranteeing years of unnecessary suffering for all parties, etc. Some of the beliefs/behaviors here are simply not credible, especially from DH.
It's interesting though, that the DIRECTOR of the S/M Champion BL of All Time, TMS2, AND this series, which includes 12 years of inexplicable, self-inflicted pain and suffering, also directed BLUEMING, my second-fave BL of all time. She seems to be a fair director but must be kept away from the writer's desk at all costs.
it seemed to me at first when DoHoe returned from outer space after 12 years, that he had been in a romantic/sexual…
I know he said that. I didn't entirely believe him just because he said so. People tell fibs to get or not get what they want; even basically good people. I am not saying I am sure one way or the other, but you're telling me they worked closely or were buddies or something for 12 years while one was desperately in love with the other...and nothing ever happened between them? I need to check...this was probably written by a woman, right?
it seemed to me at first when DoHoe returned from outer space after 12 years, that he had been in a romantic/sexual…
In their last phone conversation before DH dumped HH, they both spoke of their "relationship." And HH came over to DH's place to shower and sleep and DH doesn't tell him to leave until SJY is there? Hmmm...seems suspicious.
Your explanation of how DH let 12 years pass and still feels it's the day he left town is absurd.
It is fascinating how many BL watchers will make up stuff that never was shown on screen and ignore other things that WERE shown on screen, to suit their preferred idea of the story.
Either way, the idea that ALL THREE of them are gay but NONE of them had any other romances or physical relationships for TWELVE years is also absurd.
Please help: So...is DoHoe both a jerk AND a whore?See spoiler below.
it seemed to me at first when DoHoe returned from outer space after 12 years, that he had been in a romantic/sexual relationship with HyeonHo that whole time. But then, as shown in those scenes in that apartment in seemed as if they were living separately, though it was clear HH was still hot for DH. But then, DH told HH to "stay at your own place" or something like that, and there was no physical closeness shown, and it was also clear HH was frustrated and being given the cold shoulder by DH, but who the fuck would live like that as colleagues for 12 years, unless they're a pathetic masochist? OK, so maybe HH is a pathetic masochist? But then, in the finale, it seemed to be made clear during the final DH/HH phone conversation that they HAD been in a romantic/physical relationship for 12 years. So was DH giving up the bootie to HH for 12 years just to keep HH quiet about his test grades/fake diploma? If so, doesn't that make DH a major jerk for disappearing on SJY without explanation, AND a big ol' whore for putting out to DH just to keep him silent?
If that's the case, I'm back to disliking DH quite a bit, which kind of ruins the ending for me.
